  • Cool Rewards

    I am ever so grateful for your generosity. I cannot thank you enough for supporting my Cool Rewards project. I received the refrigerator and water bottles a few weeks ago, and I was so excited to have the items we need to give our students cool and fun rewards to acknowledge their accomplishments and good deeds. The water has especially come in handy after the Los Angeles fires because students didn't feel safe drinking the water from the fountains, and they were happy to be able to drink clean, safe water.   • Student Workstation

    I cannot thank you enough for helping this project come to fruition. My students earn classroom incentives by demonstrating participating in class discussions, notetaking, and positive behavior. We are working in large and small groups depending on the project and assignments. The rewards help in keeping students on task and motivated, especially after 2 years of virtual learning.

    Students earn tickets, which are then put into a raffle. At the end of each week, I randomly and blindly select a few tickets in a raffle, and let students select a prize from the materials you helped us purchase. Students look forward to the raffles and struggle with making a decision as to which prize to choose because they love them all.

    Thank you again for helping to make this project a reality that is helping students transition back to in-person learning. I think it is really making a difference in how students are back to in-person instruction and making their work a little less stressful and a lot more fun.”

  • Covid Clean Classroom

    I can't thank you enough for supporting my Covid Clean classroom project. We recently received the boxes from Amazon and we were excited to have materials that we need to stay as Covid safe as possible and continue in person learning. My students regularly use the sanitizers and alcohol to clean their desks, devices, hands, and learning supplies. It has been helpful to have more protective masks, especially with the new and more contagious variant as well as our district's new protocols.

  • A Chair to Keep Going

    Three years ago I had a work related accident that hurt my back and caused disc herniations. As a result, it's been difficult for me to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. With distance learning we have to sit for hours at a time. Having an ergonomic chair helps me sit for longer periods with decreased back pain. With this chair, and the decreased back pain, I am able to give more of my time and attention to help my students. I am able to more comfortably grade assignment and create lessons. Thank you for supporting this project and believing in the power of public education.”

Now that school campuses are closed due to the pandemic, we have to teach through the computer and make the content as meaningful and engaging as possible. Additionally we are mandated to provide synchronous (live) instruction, which I cannot provide because the school provided computer does not have those capabilities. I need a laptop with camera and speakers to engage with my students face to face online. Such a device will allow me to create or share online learning videos while providing live synchronous academic instruction. The AVID program requires the delivery of instructional video materials that I am currently unable to show because my computer doesn't have live video sharing capabilities. I need a functional laptop to be able to create videos that I can upload to the internet, hold teleconference meetings, write and post daily lesson plans, and enter student grades. My goal is to develop high motivation in my students and engage them in meaningful learning.
