I am about to complete my second year teaching, last year I taught 5th grade ELA and Science and was transferred over to teach 3rd grade this year! In 5th grade most students come prepared, they sharpen their pencils as they come in, or right after having breakfast. It's a different story with my 3rd graders. They wait until the last minute or in the middle of the lesson to shout, "Miss, I need a pencil!" I have purchased many sharpeners as the school year has progressed, of all sorts of prices, they either don't work as well as they should, or leave a mess behind, I currently have a classroom sharpener attached to the wall from the campus, but it has been replaced so many times..its just not strong enough! My students are currently using a small green mechanical sharpener I purchased online, but its running its last miles as you're reading this. A commercial sharpener is what I need in my class, this way I can prevent the constant stopping to sharpen pencils and keep teaching my lesson. It is a great distraction that takes away from my instructional time and with your kind donation our problems would be resolved. This commercial sharpener would be used for many years to come... Thank you for taking time to read this, have a beautiful day!
