All of my students are drawn to the electronic keyboard in our music classroom. They want to touch the keys, and see what different sounds they can create. At this time, we only have a teacher keyboard in our classroom. The electronic keyboards will give my students the chance to not only create different sounds, but to also take the knowledge they have gained from learning to read Recorder Music on the Treble Clef Staff, and apply that knowledge to another musical instrument. As my student's progress in their keyboard studies, they will be able to work in small groups and independently, to not only build musicianship skills, but critical-thinking skills that will serve them through out their lives. Studies show that students who study music over a period of time, do better overall in school, both academically and socially.
