In order listen to their current abilities, students need recording capabilities with quality microphones. Subpar microphones, like those found in most phones and computers, give students an inaccurate idea of what they sound like. These recordings often leave students feeling dejected because they hear the poor sound quality and assume it is their fault when underpowered technology is at fault.
