My classes have been having a great time with this new lab. As you can see in the pictures, we have successfully grown our cultures in the dishes. The kids were amazed at the amount of bacteria found on their phones. Some were a little grossed out. Overall, the experiment was wonderful. I hope to use the supplies for the coming year with other specimens.
I appreciate this donation. Science should be an exciting world of exploration but it requires a lot of support. We would have not been able to do this lab without your help and funding.”

I wish to say thank you for your wonderful gift. The Celestron Pentaview microscope is incredible. The screen is very detailed and it is easy to use. It also interfaces with my laptop so I can show the kids slides and short videos. So far, we have used it to view leaves, stems, ovules, and roots.
Later this year we will be looking at water bears, paramecium, and amoebas. They actually move on the slide. I think the kids will love it. I want to send it to them as a video so they can view it whenever they want.
Sincerely,
Ms Kangas”

It is with deep gratitude that I say, "Thank you" for your support. With your donation, I have created a student resource center where students have daily supplies for writing, making graphs, and doing labs. In the past, simple things, such as the need for paper, pencils, and other office equipment have slowed down the learning process as students scrabbled to find the items in their backpacks or to borrow them. Now that is no longer an issue. Lessons are going much smoother now and it was made possible with your much-needed help.”
First of all, I want to say thank you so much for your generosity. These microscopes make labs so much easier and now that we have enough, the groups are smaller. Each child can spend more time learning how to operate them. Also, they are much more powerful than the microscopes that we have had for 30 years.
The kids really enjoy that they are phone adaptable which makes it easy for kids to take pictures and create videos of what they are seeing. I really improves class projects since they can be added to Google slide projects.”
First of all, I would like to say that we really appreciate your donation of the Aquasprout hydroponics systems that you gave our classroom. The kids were overjoyed. They unpacked everything and spent most of the first day putting everything together. They also did a lot of research on their own time to decide what type of plants and fish would be best for our initial foray into hydroponics. We decided on guppies and different herbs. So far it has been going very well. It also adds a calming effect to the classroom.
We are hoping to expand our curriculum to include more lessons and labs that include hydroponic objectives in the future. Next year will be especially exciting since we will be able to plant at the beginning of the year and watch the progress of the garden over the entire school year!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kangas

High school Biology has expanded to include ecology and ecosystems to the curriculum and the STEM program put emphasis on hands on learning. It will be real world gardening using techniques that involve an aquarium and its fish to grow the plants.
This gives the kids a real life visual on the cycling of nutrients and organic gardening. The Aquasprouts Garden Kit will create two ecosystems for the kids to monitor and analyze. Lessons from the data retrieved, such as PH level, growth measurements, water conditions will serve to reinforce learning objectives.
The resulting plants will also support the classroom pets, including two desert tortoises( Pebbles and Peaches) and a guinea pig (Pixie). The kids love these little guys.
