The materials that I requesting will help my Choral Music colleagues and I to construct our lessons meaningfully and achieve success. With Simon Senik's book, "Start With Why," teachers and I can reclaim our purpose behind our musical instruction. I will lead a PLC, or, Professional Learning Community, in which other music teachers and I can reignite our passion for our craft by collectively reevaluating our vision for choral music in our district. Additionally, our country needs to be reminded of the power that music has to unite people of different backgrounds. "This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before." - Leonard Bernstein Finally, the quote above summarizes my vision behind why I encourage my students to appreciate the music of people from many countries. The unity we achieve through our musical process cannot be achieved merely by sitting behind a desk or completing normal homework. However, students must also feel proud of our musical product. That is why the "nuts and bolts," of musical instruction will be covered through teacher discussion of the materials of Christine C. Bass. We have so much to achieve in such a small amount of time; with these materials, we can comfortably lead our students in a role very similar to that of a physical education coach. We can inspire students to embrace their purpose behind their singing, and then equip them with the skills necessary to do so beautifully.
