Just a few of the Leadership 7-8 standards that can be addressed are 1.1,1.3,1.6,4.3,6.2,6.3For this project, students will develop a program to recognize their peers by/ with buttons/ 1" pins and stickers as well as cards using Canva to create and print them. They will look for ways to appreciate/recognize their peers and adults they come it contact with. They will have to use verbal skills to tell the person why they are rewarding them with their sticker/pin/ button. They will brainstorm traits they want to see improved in their school community and then reward those they see doing them. It can be as simple as smiling, helping someone, maybe they see improvements that others don't see, being a friend, speaking out, being amazing at being themselves. They will be looking for the good in the world around them and celebrate those who make their dessert hawk community a better place. They will also be writing and designing letters/ pins/ stickers of gratitude for those they interact with as part of the gratitude project. Science tells us as we show gratitude we feel better. This will allow them to specifically address standard 4.3 Students will understand the effects of positive and negative reinforcement.
