  • Autism: Reach for the Stars! Organized Classrom

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

I'm excited to share with you how your generous contribution has already made a profound impact in our classroom, and how we are utilizing the new resources you've helped provide.

One of the most noticeable improvements is our organization mobile drawer, which has become a game-changer for us. Before this, we were struggling with clutter and inefficiency in storing supplies and assignments. Now, students are able to easily access materials, and this has not only saved us time but also helped them stay more focused and organized during lessons. For instance, during our most recent group project, each team had quick access to the resources they needed, which helped them collaborate more effectively. The drawer also houses art supplies, and students have expressed how much it motivates them to stay engaged with their creative work.

Again, thank you for making all of this possible. Your contribution has done more than just provide materials—it's helped foster a sense of ownership, creativity, and excitement in our classroom.

    Sincerely,”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jakubiec-Basse

  • Autism: Reach for the Stars, Hygiene

    Funded Nov 24, 2024

Your generous donation has had a meaningful impact on our classroom, and we want to share the difference it has made for our students. With the new books, we've been able to launch a reading initiative that has captured the attention of every student. When the children first saw the books, their faces lit up with excitement. They eagerly flipped through the pages, exploring new characters and stories.

The hygiene supplies have also made a remarkable difference in our students' daily lives. The moment they saw the new toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap, there was a sense of joy and pride. For many students, it was a new experience to have their very own hygiene kit, and we've incorporated these items into our daily routines. After lunch, we have a "self-care time," where students brush their teeth and wash their hands, learning about the importance of hygiene in a hands-on way. Not only are they learning how to take care of themselves, but they're also excited to show off their new toothbrushes and share with friends how they're using them.

The materials you've provided have helped foster a sense of responsibility, independence, and self-confidence in our students. Moving forward, we plan to integrate hygiene education into our health lessons, encouraging students to take pride in both their personal well-being and their academic growth. We'll also continue to build on their reading skills by encouraging them to pick new books.

Thank you for making a tangible difference in the lives of these students. Your contribution is helping them grow both academically and personally, and we are excited to see how they continue to thrive with these new resources.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jakubiec-Basse

  • Autism: Reach for the Stars, Little Artists

    Funded Oct 16, 2024

Thanks to your generous donation, the new art supplies in our classroom have had an incredible impact on my students' creativity, confidence, and engagement. These resources have opened up a world of possibilities for hands-on learning and expression.

When the art supplies first arrived, the students were absolutely thrilled. I remember one student's face lighting up as they unwrapped them.

For some, this was their first time using certain materials, and the new tools sparked a sense of possibility. It was clear that they felt empowered to explore and experiment with their artistic abilities in ways they hadn't before. It also provided a new outlet for those who struggle with verbal communication, as they were able to express their feelings and ideas through art.

Your donation has made a lasting difference. These new art supplies have not only elevated our classroom's creativity but have also given my students the tools to express themselves in powerful and personal ways. Thank you for being a part of this journey. We're excited to continue our artistic adventures, and I look forward to sharing more moments of growth and creativity with you as the year progresses!”

    With gratitude,

  • Autism: Reach for the Stars, Sensory Toys

    Funded Oct 25, 2024

Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed with a variety of sensory toys that have made a significant impact on my students' learning and engagement. These new resources have brought a wave of excitement and creativity into our daily routines.

When the sensory toys first arrived, my students' reactions were priceless. There was an immediate buzz in the room! They were eager to explore the different textures, shapes, and sounds, and many of them expressed how the toys made them feel "happy" or "relaxed." For some, it was a new way to express themselves, and they quickly took ownership of the toys, incorporating them into their daily routines.

Looking ahead, these sensory tools are already making a noticeable difference in our current lessons. We're diving into a project where students are learning about different sensory experiences through art and storytelling. For example, some students have been using the sensory toys to help them create textured art pieces, while others are incorporating the tactile materials into their storytelling, describing how the textures feel and imagining the worlds they could create. The toys have sparked creativity, helping them connect with their work in new, engaging ways.

Your contribution has made a lasting impact. With these sensory toys, my students are not only finding joy in learning but also developing crucial sensory processing skills that will benefit them well beyond the classroom. Thank you for helping to create a space where my students feel seen, heard, and supported. We're excited to continue using these tools to enhance our learning.”

  • Autism: Reach for the Stars!

    Funded Oct 13, 2024

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we've introduced new printer into our classroom, and the impact has been profound. This technology has transformed the way our students engage with their learning, providing them with tools to create, collaborate, and express themselves in ways that were previously difficult or impossible.

Students are able to print visual aids for presentations, and creative artwork, which has deepened their understanding and increased their sense of accomplishment. It's especially helpful for students who learn best through visual or tactile methods, as they can now see their progress and take tangible ownership of their projects.

The excitement around the new printer is palpable. For many students, this is the first time they've had easy access to high-quality printing technology. The ability to quickly print prototypes, posters, and projects has added a new dimension to their learning experiences.

Overall, the introduction of printer has not only supported our students in completing their assignments more efficiently but has also inspired a greater level of creativity and innovation across the classroom. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our donors, as this technology has truly enhanced the learning experience for all students in our classroom.”

I would like to say thank you to my wonderful donors for getting us seat sacks for my amazing students. • Reach for the Stars!

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you so much for generous donations! I am blown away by how quickly we reached my goal.

Through your generosity I was able to use laminating sheets to laminate a lot of new books, visual schedules and education materials for my students. Crayons, scissors, tape and pencils we use them every day during our work time. For students safety we placed those materials in the individual box with student name, so they don't have to share them. Students are happy and thankful.

Thank you for helping me to keep our school running with as few disruptions as possible, despite everything that is going on. Thank you for allowing us to reach for the stars!”

While working in a classroom with students who have autism, I am aware that all of my students are learning at different levels and use different learning methods. We are in a lower socioeconomic NYC area and my students do not always or cannot always provide the supplies they need. These materials will help my students stay busy and keep them both physically and mentally active. The crayons, pencils, markers and scissors, and other school supplies I have listed would help greatly. They are all active students and want to complete work as they are assigned. These materials will allow my students to continue their learning from home. I want to provide my students with the consistency they need. In order to do this, I need to help them with the basic materials that we use at school. Let my Students to reach for the Stars!
