  • Supplies to Help My Students Grow

    Funded May 23, 2018

Thank you for funding my project, for my students to receive supplies to help them be successful in my classroom this year. We are in the second week of school and have already enjoyed the supplies we were donated so much. Students have asked interesting questions that they are curious about for each unit we are studying. They answered those questions on the astrobrights that have now been placed on our wonder wall to study as we move through each of our units. Students were so relieved that their notebooks were provided for them and that they have them to keep them organized in science. We are so thankful for everything that was donated and cannot wait to use them more!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Winslow

  • STEAM Students: Broadcasting for Our Community

    Funded Apr 20, 2018

Thank you so much again for donating! My students are becoming more engaged and willing to participate with the supplies we have received. They come to class so excited to learn and try new things. I cannot thank you enough for donating to improve the lives of my children and make them even more successful. I love watching them interact and transform into young adults as they discover what they like and don't like and make decisions on what type of career they may see themselves in, in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Winslow

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and one other donor.
My students love being able to connect their learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. When they are engaged in meaningful learning experiences, they are so much more eager to learn. When learning about ecology, my students seem to lose interest in the topic of invasive species. In order for my students to grasp an understanding of our local invasive species, they will create a news broadcast that will inform our entire community of our invasive species and how they can do their part in helping the local ecosystem. We currently do not have any way to film, record, or create a news broadcast. The ipads will be used for filming and the green screens will be used to change out the backgrounds. I would love to have the technology so that my students can be actively engaged in a real world problem while still learning our standards. Not only will my students be learning all about invasive species, but they will also be able to learn all about broadcasting and the technology that is used to create a broadcast.
