Even Little Artists Need a Studio!
Funded Dec 21, 2023I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for funding my project! Because of your generosity, my students now have their ART corner: they can paint a canvas on the beautiful easel, they can research art topics by visiting our new bookcase, and have a beautiful carpet to sit, read, have a quiet moment, or share with their classmates.
As I am reorganizing several areas in my classroom for the next school year, I am planning to create a larger space and design it for the above purposes. I want my students to feel very privileged and special for having such a professional art corner to learn and grow.
My students have expressed so much joy by being in the art center! They are looking forward in coming into my room to engage in the above tasks, and they even ask me if they can come during their lunch! The center has been also helping a lot with negative and unproductive behavior: students are motivated to do their best and make a lot of effort, in order to receive a pass to visit our art center and engage in tasks of their preference. You have make a significant impact on my students' academic, as well as social and emotional learning.”

We Are Ready to Create Cultural Storyteller Sculptures!
Funded Oct 11, 2023I cannot describe the degree of my appreciation for your generous donations, which brought my classroom project "We Are Ready to Create Cultural Storyteller Sculptures" to life. My students studied the culture of the Cochiti Pueblo people, as well as the renowned artist Helen Cordero. Consequently, they used the materials I bought through your donations to create Storyteller Sculptures using clay, model magic, paint and pastels. Students personalized their sculptures to reflect their own cultures, personal experiences and memories.
Students absolutely loved creating their sculptures. When we opened the clay and model magic boxes in the classroom, they could not contain their excitement and enthusiasm! Students were looking forward to their next session to work on and finish their sculpture. They were highly motivated, focused and engaged in every single session, and eager to share their work and discuss it with their classmates and other PS 63 community members who came to admire the student artwork.
Next, we will be exploring sculpture in other parts of the world, and experiment by using materials other than clay, such as recycling items, wire, fabric, etc. I would like to thank you once more for enabling my students to learn and grow through hands-on experimentation, improvisation, discovery, problem solving strategies, mindfulness and self-expression.”

Funded May 18, 2023My students and I are thrilled for being able to continue painting our school murals because of your generous donation! We were able to start new murals with multicultural themes before the end of last year, and we are continuing to work on them during this school year.
Students were disappointed prior to your donation because we had ran out of many colors and were unable to continue. Because of you we kept our project alive and we will be able to complete it with all the acrylic paint we received. Everyone was so excited to see all the unique colors that will make our murals sparkle!
I am also planning to teach a unit on "Self-Portraiture" canvas painting with the unused paint, and my students cannot wait to participate.
Thank you again for your generosity and for supporting my program and the Arts.”

Funded Nov 16, 2022My students and I would like to thank you so much for your generous donations! Because of your donations, we have been immersed into exploring styrofoam reduction printing.
My students have created so many pieces, and they cannot get enough of this experience. They have learned so much through this project: new vocabulary, new art mediums, new art techniques and ideas! I love watching their faces when they are ready to peel off their printing paper from the styrofoam and discover the image they have created. They want to keep creating more pieces, using more colors, themes and etching styles. It's an endless process, and their enthusiasm keeps growing. Next, I would like to introduce them to linocut printing, so we can take this experience to the next level.
Again, I am deeply thankful and grateful for your donation. Not only you provided the means for my students to grow artistically, but you also greatly supported me in an effort to promote their social and emotional wellbeing.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022I cannot thank you enough for bringing my art project to life! Through your donation you enabled my students to explore and experiment with sculpture and expand their knowledge in this domain. We used tin foil, plaster, and fabric, to create sculptures of people in action.
Students used their art journal to draw their ideas, and consequently, they proceeded with their sculpture creations.
It was a unique educational and emotional experience, as students had not been exposed to this type of sculpture before. In addition, the artistic choices they made were entirely free: the ideas, as well as the execution of this project were initiated and completed by the students. As a result, the sculptures are indicative of the students' personal experiences and preferences; cultural backgrounds; imagination; and personal style.
My students were totally immersed into this creative experience, and worked with passion and enthusiasm. They are very pleased with their sculptures, as well as with the reactions and comments they receive by our school community.
Thank you again for giving my students the opportunity to grow intellectually and emotionally!”

Funded Oct 31, 2020I cannot describe the degree of my appreciation for your generous donations, which brought my classroom project "Pueblo Storyteller Sculpture" to life.
Students were thrilled in the prospect of using clay to create their own sculptures. When we opened the clay and model magic boxes in the classroom, they could not contain their excitement and enthusiasm! It took five sessions to complete our project, and on many occasions, students told me that they were waiting all day for our art class. They were highly motivated, focused and engaged in every single session, and eager to share their work and discuss it with their classmates and other teachers who came to admire the student artwork.
