The materials I have requested will be used in a Reading Intervention classroom. My Reading Intervention program provides extra help to smaller groups of students who are not reading on grade level. I teach them reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary, fluency, phonics/word study and writing. I work with many different levels of students. I teach students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Some students come to my classroom as non-readers. I need to have a large variety of books and resources to assist the children. The materials I have selected will assist students in learning skills they need more practice with. It is my hope to have many books, games and tools in my classroom at their level for them to use and read. I am excited to add to our classroom library! I would love to add more multi-cultural books to my library. The bins and leveled books I ordered will help many students find a book they can actually read!!! It is important to have the classroom library organized and labeled so the students can find books by genre/author/character. Students also enjoy being able to take a book or two home to read and return. I have requested a CD player. Many of the students I work with are ELL students. Listening to stories on CD will benefit them greatly. I also will use the CD player to play classical music during lessons. The students I work with love to do hands-on activities. The comprehension blocks, bingo games and letter/vowel sound tiles will allow the children to work with their peers to solve problems and collaborate. Thank you for your support and generosity.
