  • Most Wanted Flexible Seating

    Funded May 22, 2019

My students have been so thankful to have the extra seating in our classroom library. We also use the seating at a floor table and it is one of their favorite places to sit. The seats work out perfectly for partner and small group work!

The kids were so happy to see the seats when they came into my classroom at the beginning of the school year. I love to see them excited about being in the classroom and about the classroom environment. The new seating was definitely an asset to the environment.

We will be using out seats extensively next week as we begin out book report projects on t-shirts. They will provide a perfect set up for us to work comfortably and conveniently on our upcoming book reports!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arnold

  • STEM Titles for my Steamers!

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

Wow!! These books have created endless possibilities in our classroom this year. The students have loved engaging in STEM activities as extensions from the books you provided for our classroom. Not only have we had more opportunities to create our projects as extensions from our books, we have also learned some invaluable lessons about teamwork along the way. We get better with each story/creation, and I can say with certainty I have witnessed great gains in our planning and communication skills. Thank you for making all of this possible. Some of our favorites have been creating a set of scales that would actually balance, decorating Christmas trees without spending any money but using lots of love, and designing waterproof valentines. The books you have provided for our classroom have their own special tub and it is the most coveted in the entire classroom. On a daily basis I have students asking to read the "special" books. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arnold

  • Chromebooks for Digital Art

    Funded Oct 22, 2018

The Chromebooks that you made possible for our classroom has been the best addition to our classroom since I began teaching! We have a few options for the students in the classroom when it comes to technology but the chromebooks are by far the top choice! They are very dependable and extremely user friendly! Just last week the students learned how to peer edit one another's papers and electronically return it to its owner for corrections to be made! This is unbelievable to think we are doing this in third grade!!

We have also seen great gains in math due to being able to use the chromebooks for math practice at differentiated levels. The students use the chromebooks multiple times daily. We could not be more thankful for your generosity.”

  • A Seat for One, A Spot for All

    Funded Apr 12, 2018

We are using our new seating all day everyday! The students have been so excited to have new seats, but have also been very responsible about choosing smart seats for themselves. Each Monday students get to choose a new "smart spot" for the week, allowing everyone an opportunity to sit in their favorite places more than once.

My previous students continue to come back by my classroom asking why they didn't get to sit in seats like these! I think the new seating helped my entire new class of students look forward to returning to school this year.

We have established a classroom economy where students earn wages for being good students, are required to pay rent and utilities, receive fines for inappropriate use of the new seating, and earn bonuses for responsible and outstanding behaviors.

We are looking forward to expanding our seating options and adding a few more of our favorites - the wobble stools!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arnold

In an ever-changing world, the challenge to capture the sustained attention of our students is escalating. Children still need direct instruction from an individual teacher to give them the opportunities to grow in their conversational skills and intellectual stamina, all the while allowing for hands-on involvement in their learning. With students growing up in front of "screens" for significant amounts of time, it is proving more and more difficult to hold their attention in a classroom. Any avenue we can provide for them to release energy, but sustain focus will prove to have positive results. One way that I would like to do this is through weekly STEM projects. I want the students to be intentional about their science/math application to real world engineering/building/creating/problem-solving for an extended period of uninterrupted time at least once a week.
