Thank you for all your support in helping me create a space where students and school community feel welcomed and are able to share their hopes and dreams. This donation will help in our school community journey as we create a space for the community to come in and feel at home.”

  • History Through Literature

    Funded Jun 21, 2022

The donation of books has had a great impact. We finished our first novel study in Spanish. The students learned about the life of Pablo Neruda and developed more vocabulary in Spanish. We are reading our second novel and are very excited. These books not only contribute to strengthening our culture of reading, but help us build community among the students. We are able to have literature circles and students take on roles to keep each other accountable. These novels make a difference in enriching the curriculum.”

  • Promoting a Culture of Reading

    Funded Jan 9, 2022

My students were very surprised and overjoyed when our material arrived. They literally jumped for joy. That evening I received many messages from the parents communicating how excited the students were.

The library has become the most loved place in our classroom. The rug is beautiful and the students enjoy reading on the rug. They also love the bean bags. We have set up a schedule for students to use them so that everyone gets a turn. The books have added new excitement to the library and students browse through the new books on a daily basis.

These materials have added a coziness and warmth to our classroom and we are very grateful for all the donations.”

  • Creating a Supportive and Fun Learning Environment

    Funded Jan 3, 2011

I just wanted to thank you once again for the generous donation to my students. We have received all of the materials and my students are so excited. Our classroom library is now on of the most popular areas. The students enjoy reading our new books in the comfortable bean bags. They are also reinforcing skills that they have learned playing the sorting games. We will be using our life cycle kit as soon as we start our science unit. The students are very excited about that. One of our class agreements is to come in to class happy and you have helped the students come in happy. They look forward to using the materials you so generously donated. Thank you once again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Subias

My students come from low income families. Every student in my school is eligible for free lunch. There is one library in the community which is about a 2 mile walk from the school. My students do not have reading books at home and because their parents work late hours, they are not able to take them to the library. The classroom is all they have in terms of opportunities to grow as students.
