We embrace new approaches and flexibility that enhances learning. Students are interested in sitting and reading in bean bags other than the strict confines of a school desk. Although they are in a "math" class, we are always incorporating more reading into our learning and practicing how to understand all math terms and reading math statements as a mathematician would! Some students feel excitement when sitting closer to the ground like kindergartners, yet, some feel slightly uncomfortable and still would like a type of seating object or furniture piece.
We are also looking for more reading material such as brief articles and books that allow us still time to complete math work during class time. In order to help students combat the lure and addiction to mainly social media, we are looking for traditional print material like Scholastic Art, Scholastic Math, and New York Times Upfront. Students have also had a desire to see poetry with math, however, their nearby libraries do not have books that contain this unique combination. We hope to find donor support, as well as suggestions to locate such resources.
Thank you in advance!
