Winter Warmth for Homeless and Needy Student
Funded Feb 10, 2025From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Because of your kindness, our students can walk into this winter a little warmer, a little more comfortable, and—most importantly—feeling cared for.
Many of our students continue to face daily hardships that most people can't imagine. Many have said that this is the first warm jacket they've ever owned. For others, it has meant that they won't have to brave the cold in layers that aren't enough. These jackets and sweaters are more than just clothing; they are a reminder that there are people out there—like you—who truly care about them.
I wish you could have seen the smiles, the excitement, and even the quiet relief on their faces as they received their jackets. Your generosity has made a tangible difference, one that will stay with them far beyond this winter season.
On behalf of my students and our entire school community, THANK YOU. Your kindness has made our world a little warmer in more ways than one.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Schrock

Funded Aug 12, 2024First of all, THANK YOU! I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous support, which has made a profound difference in our classroom at Stockton High School in Stockton, California. Your contribution of essential supplies has significantly enhanced our students' learning environment and overall educational experience.
The notebooks, pens, and pencils have been truly transformative. Our students have eagerly embraced these new tools, which have made a substantial impact on their ability to organize their work and stay engaged in their studies. A standout moment was during a recent science project where students used their new notebooks to document their research and findings. The pens and pencils facilitated detailed note-taking and sketching, which enriched their understanding and presentation of the project. Seeing their pride and excitement as they used these materials was incredibly rewarding.
When the students first received the notebooks, pens, and pencils, their reactions were a mix of excitement and relief. Many of them had been struggling with inadequate supplies, and the arrival of these new materials brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm and motivation. One student, who had previously been using scraps of paper and worn-out pencils, was particularly thrilled to have a fresh notebook and a set of reliable writing tools. The joy and gratitude they expressed highlighted the significant impact these resources have had on their daily learning.
The Febreze air fresheners have also contributed to a more pleasant classroom atmosphere. The improved ambiance has made the classroom a more inviting and comfortable space, which has positively influenced students' mood and focus. They have remarked on how much more enjoyable and conducive to learning the classroom environment has become.
Sticky notes have become an essential part of our classroom activities. They have been particularly effective during interactive lessons and group projects. For instance, in a recent lesson, students used sticky notes to jot down important facts and questions, which they then organized on a large timeline poster. This visual and collaborative approach helped them better grasp events and encouraged active participation.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue utilizing these resources to further enrich our classroom projects. We are beginning a new unit on creative writing, where students will use their notebooks and writing tools to draft and revise their stories. Sticky notes will play a key role in peer reviews and brainstorming sessions, allowing students to provide feedback and develop their ideas more effectively.
Thank you for your support and commitment to improving educational outcomes for students in underserved communities! Your support has been instrumental in helping us create a more engaging and supportive learning environment. We are excited about the future and the continued positive impact these resources will have on our classroom.”

Funded Aug 12, 2024Thank you SO much for your generous donation to my classroom! I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support, which has significantly impacted our classroom here at Stockton High School in Stockton, California. Your contribution of essential items has truly transformed our learning environment and the lives of our students.
The standing desk has been particularly beneficial. Our students have embraced the option to stand while working, which has led to increased focus and engagement. A specific example of this was during a recent group project, students used the standing desk to collaborate more actively and brainstorm ideas for a sustainable community initiative. The flexibility of the desk allowed them to move around and interact more freely, resulting in a highly productive and creative session.
When the students first saw the notebooks, pens, and pencils, their reactions were filled with excitement and relief. Many expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm, knowing that they now had the necessary tools to take notes, complete assignments, and express their creativity. One moment that stands out was when a student, previously struggling to keep up with assignments due to a lack of supplies, received their own notebook and set of pens and pencils. The joy on his face was a powerful reminder of how such basic resources can make a world of difference.
The Febreze air fresheners, though a small addition, have significantly improved our classroom environment. Students have commented on how much more pleasant the room feels, and this improvement has been reflected in their increased willingness to spend time in the classroom and engage in their work.
Sticky notes have become an integral part of our daily routine. They have been particularly useful during interactive lessons and group activities. For example, during a recent lesson, students used sticky notes to write down key facts and questions about a story we had read. They then placed these notes on a large timeline poster, which facilitated a dynamic and visual learning experience. This method not only enhanced their understanding but also encouraged active participation and collaboration.
Looking ahead, our next steps involve applying these new resources to further enrich our current classroom projects. We are beginning a new unit on creative writing, where students will use their notebooks and writing tools to develop and refine their stories. The standing desk will continue to support their creative process by allowing them the freedom to move around and work in different ways. Additionally, sticky notes will be used for peer reviews and brainstorming sessions, helping students to provide feedback and generate ideas more effectively.
Thank you for your support and commitment to improving educational outcomes for students in underserved communities! Your support has been instrumental in helping us create a more engaging and supportive learning environment. We are excited about the future and the continued positive impact these resources will have on our classroom.”

Funded Nov 8, 2022You have no idea the joy that reverberated throughout my classroom when I told my students about the generous donations made by you. They were SHOCKED that people that don't know them personally would donate to them. Funny enough, many were excited about the air freshner and how much that will help (and how happy I am that I didn't have to continue buying it myself). Many kids immediately asked for notebooks, which I was able to give any student that needed them, and I was also able to restock our highlighters and paper supplies. Thank you so much for making these moments possible. Without donations like yours, this would not be possible. THANK YOU!”

Learning to Read and Write in Stockton, CA
Funded Oct 17, 2018The look on my student's faces when they were told we were given an over $800 donation, just for them, was priceless. So many of them had so many questions such as "who is donating this to us?", "how do they know you?", and "are they rich?". I explained to them that our donor was Chevron and that they donated to us because they saw that we were doing big learning and needed a little bit of help. They were shocked and giddy with the fact that someone would reach out just to help our little classroom in Southside Stockton.
When the supplies came to our room, many of my students kept saying it "felt like Christmas" due to the fact that there were large boxes with things just for them. Many used the whiteboards that very day.
Overwhelmingly, my students couldn't be more thankful for your generous donation to our classroom. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to help my students and give them the necessities for learning this year. It couldn't have come at a better time and I couldn't begin to tell you how appreciative I am. It never ceases to amaze me how generous corporations can be and this was another instance of seeing the good in the world from those that want nothing in return. I have passed on the news of Donors Choose and already helped two teachers create their own projects.
Thank you again for your generous donation. We continue to use and appreciate every item you donated to our room. I only hope that one day I can do the same for another young teacher looking to help their own students.”

When the supplies came to our room, many of my students kept saying it "felt like Christmas" due to the fact that there were so many Amazon boxes with things just for them. Many took notebooks, pencils, and paper home with them that very day. Others, it has helped in more subtle ways, such as being able to print their essay, project, or poster.
