Our school would love to create "The Cougar Cart". A mobile "store" that would be managed and maintained by our students. Our desire is to give students the opportunity to gain life skills, including money management, time management, and communication skills, while encouraging critical, as well as, creative thinking skills. Students will use the Rolling Storage Cart and Organizer with 12 Plastic Drawers as an organizational tool for the various school supply items (pencils, pens, paper, highlighters, scissors, folders, etc.) to create a mobile school store. Students identified within our Autism Spectrum classroom will partner with students in their inclusion classes and visit different grade levels (6th through 8th grade) on alternating days of each week. Students will initially be guided through an inventory lesson to determine appropriate item pricing, in order to be able to replenish items as they are "sold out". Students will be guided through steps to promote and "advertise" the items available for their peers to purchase. Our goal is to establish a starting inventory for our students and then allowing them to develop the program into a self-supporting, student directed learning project. The "Cougar Cart" will foster a deeper sense of community and aid in creating relationship between the diverse groups of individuals within our school setting. As this is achieved, our students will also be gaining crucial life skills to benefit them in the future.
