Brain Break-Harry Potter Style
Funded Apr 7, 2025The magic of Hogwarts is coming to my classroom thanks to donors like you! My kids are beyond excited to use the games and crafting materials on our next brain break day. And next time I have to make groups, we'll have the house banners under which to sort them! So cool!”

Funded Feb 4, 2024As the weather has warmed up, the supplies we received from this project have been put to good use! Students are enjoying well-earned recess periods using the kickballs, velcro catch mitts, footballs and sidewalk chalk.
The beautiful designs and inspirational phrases left behind from our sidewalk chalk artists is a fun, colorful addition to the spaces around the building.
Students work hard and now they can play hard with all of these wonderful supplies and equipment from our Donors Choose project.
Thank you for enriching the lives of our students!”

Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you for supporting the new cozy seating area for our classroom. Students absolutely love working in this space. It's been so popular that I've had to set up a chart to let kids know which day they can work in the space! My homeroom loves having the space to themselves at the end of the day so they can relax and wait for their buses to be called.
There are several students who have a hard time sitting still that have benefitted from the wobble stools we purchased. It truly does help them focus when they can move and work at the same time; I love it because they are less disruptive and actually get their work done!
Our classroom is much warmer, more inviting and productive as a result of these wonderful additions to our space. Thank you soooooo much!”

Funded Dec 10, 2023Thank you for supporting my project, Responsible Students. The supplies that you helped purchase have been put to good work. Students have assigned themselves jobs including, keyboard cleaner (for the computer keyboards) and carpet sweeper (for the new carpet area we also received from a separate Donors Choose grant).
The students are sharing the responsibilities and are realizing what a difference it makes when their keyboards are clean (and not sticky...ewww!) and how satisfying it is to see a freshly cleaned carpet.
This is exactly the impact I had hoped these supplies would have!
Thank you again for helping to instill a sense of responsibility for their community.”

Travel The World Virtually
Funded Apr 7, 2019On behalf of Scofield Magnet Middle School and my collaborating teacher, Mrs. Olsen, we are so grateful for your donation of the VR goggles for our students to use. It was your gracious donation that allowed all 102 of our 7th grade students an enriched experience during our Holocaust unit. Students were able to see inside multiple concentration camps using the Nearpod App and even experience "walking around" a Holocaust memorial monument.
The number of students that verbally expressed how cool it was to feel as though they were there at the actual location, also expressing to me that it made the learning experience more real to them. They were able to feel more emotion to not only see an image, but to feel "in the moment" using the VR goggles. This opportunity would not have been available to our students if it were not for you.
Thank you so much for this opportunity! Your donation was a vital part of our success during the teaching of this unit.”

Honey, I Shrunk The Teacher: Middle School Green Screen Studio
Funded May 8, 2018Thank you so much for helping us get the amazing Green Screen Recording Studio! The students have had a blast trying to film themselves doing a lip dub video (to emulate the local High School's recent success). There was a tremendous learning curve for myself and my students as we had to figure out how to get everyone to fit within the green screen background while moving around with the music. The software we purchased has a lot of bells and whistles, almost too many, so we're still working on figuring out how it all works. My students figured out how to 'layer' the elements of their production: audio, music, video, background scenes and splicing.
Many of the kids want to start a news program, so I have agreed to proctor an after school club in the Spring. I've also approached a 6th grade teacher about doing weather forecasts in the Spring for his weather unit in science. The students and I have loads of ideas and look forward to our continued process of trial and error. I think the most favorite piece of what we purchased was the full body green screen suits! The kids absolutely rolled with laughter when they saw how their bodies disappeared in the final cut of our video.”
