English Language Learners Love Learning
Funded May 10, 2024We began using our new English Language Learners' resources with great excitement. My students were thrilled to have new resources to expand their learning and explore. As I demonstrated the use of our new materials the students raved and were excited to share which activity they were eager to try first.
Students have used the materials in small group settings, independently or with a partner. They enjoyed retelling a story using vivid picture cards while practicing the use of academic language in a fun and creative way. The students also greatly enjoy the "What's Happening?" Photo Cards which has become a student favorite. They frequently request this activity and anxiously anticipate what photo will be selected.
Their use of academic language has greatly progressed and I've seen a boost in their motivation and self-confidence. My next step for my students is to continue supporting student discourse in a fun manner by allowing more independent use of these graciously donated materials and expanding their speaking skills to transition into writing.”

Technology in Education: Essential for the Modern Life
Funded Aug 3, 2018The words 'thank you' just do not seem to be enough when trying to express how grateful my students and I are to have received this technology for our classroom use. Due to this gracious donation, my wonderful first grade students are able to work in small groups, individually or with a partner with application on the IPADS for both reading and math. The students are able to work at their skill level for further review and challenges. This has made it possible to individually differentiate instruction at a customized and tailored way.
My students are mostly excited about simply having a technology station that they are able to visit during small group instruction. The headphones have been an instrumental component because the students are able to remain focus on their own instruction and they minimize the noise, therefore allowing for less distractions. The students are excited about visiting the technology station because they are able to work independently, in a game-like manner, while practicing important skills that have led to academic growth and progress.
There are a few students in particular who have especially warmed up to this new technology and have made great academic strides. These students tend to be a bit shy and steer away from classroom participation or become distracted during large group instruction, however, through the use of technology they have had the opportunity to flourish, build confidence and succeed. Again, thank you so very much for your donations and providing my students with the technology to supplement their education in a manner that is suitable and essential to modern life.”
With gratitude,
