Rock Band in the School
Funded Oct 6, 2019This is such a special kind of class that I am fortunate to teach. Students are learning in music in an environment that is student-centered and they are committed to their learning.
Receiving these instruments allowed each student to have an instrument to use for the class that they didn't have to share with another student. They are now making music for the full class period without interruptions and they are so excited about it.
We will have a final rock concert called R-Evolution on May 8th in our PK Performing Arts center. We hope you can join us!
All we can say is, Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

Getting the Band Back Together- Part 2
Funded Sep 26, 2018What a wonderful gift that you have provided! Our students are making music weekly and becoming more comfortable calling themselves "musicians." Everyday we gain more skill and confidence in our musical journeys. Having a cajon has been a great tool to get our band up and started, and during our performances having a great sounding guitar amp makes it all feel and sound professional.
Students are learning to make music in an environment that is safe and supportive, unlike the "real" music world. They are free to make mistakes and learn from them in an encouraging environment, and I can't think of a more wonderful way for people to get involved in music making.
Thank you so much for your support. Our final Rock concert date for R-Evolution will be on May 17th at 7PM. Hope to see you there!”

Mrs. Burg
Getting the "Rock" Band Back Together!
Funded Sep 8, 2018Our students are using the equipment purchased through this donors choice project to develop their musicianship and have fun making music. The Bass guitar is a huge hit. Students are taking turns playing with their bands on the new bass. I wish we have 3 more! They were so excited when the packages arrived. It felt like Christmas morning! Everyone sat around as we opened the boxes one by one. It was a great moment.
Our students had their first live performance for an audience last week. They played at our school fall carnival. They were a hit. Since we are a K-12 school we had little kids watching and cheering on our high school performers. One student said, "these little kids make me fell like a REAL rock star."
We couldn't do this without people supporting us like you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Burg
