  • With a Promethean-Board We Can Bring Learning to Life!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

    This project has significantly impacted the way my students learn! By allowing them access to using an iPad, they have become more independent and have enjoyed learning so much more! They look forward to my speech sessions and are much more engaged during my lessons. My students enjoy working independently and as a team while using the iPads. They have been able to improve their social communication skills by taking turns and commenting. In addition, the iPad has allowed me to use speech generating apps which allow my students to communicate in a way that they were once unable to.   • Communication Boards for Children with ASD

    The funding of this project has been truly important to me. I sincerely appreciate all of your generous donations and the support you have shown for my students in their ability to communicate effectively. The use of communication books provides my students with the ability to express their wants, needs and desires through pictures. Most of my students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and have difficulty expressing themselves verbally. The communication books allow them to manipulate words and sentences to assist them in getting their messages across to other listeners. In addition, this helps them interact with other individuals socially and minimizes their frustrations within the classroom. Thank you for helping them find their voice!”

As a therapist, it is my role to expose my students to a variety of different ways that language is used as well as promote consistency, practice, and support for my students. A lot of my children struggle with early literacy skills and it is my job to ensure they acquire these skills so that they are able to read and comprehend texts as they get older and advance to middle and high school. This project will help my students build foundational literacy skills. These books will develop both oral language in terms of vocabulary, decoding, fluency and positive attitudes.

About my class
