I have many students who need to move more frequently than the typical classroom setting allows. I try to provide options for seating, but am limited. I have a small homemade podium that we sometimes sit on top of a desk so ones can take turns standing. I would love to provide more options that would provide the stimulation my students need to remain focused on their school work. The ability to move in a positive and non disruptive manner helps with focus. I want to provide two options for this. I’d like to have exercise balls that help provide input to students who require more stimulation. I’d also like to have a standup desk as another option. Sometimes just standing to do work is beneficial. I have some that have sensory needs that would benefit from another way to use their hands other than always playing with something in their desks. For this need, I’d like to have stress squeeze balls and Velcro under the desk, the soft side, which would help them get sensory stimulation for their hands. I hope to meet these sensory needs in more positive ways.
