  • Character Parade

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity and support in helping me bring the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to life. We are going to have so much fun learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, naming the characters and different vocabulary words, repeating and acting out the story and tasting all the food the caterpillar eats. It is going to be an exciting week and I can't wait to share the pictures with you!”

  • STEAM in PreK

    Funded Nov 22, 2023

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. I can't wait to share with my PK team that the project was finally funded! We are going to have so much fun planning these science lessons when we return to school. The kids are going to have so much fun learning and exploring science with these materials. Thank you!”

  • Taking Turns Can Be Fun!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your support.

These items have been a hit in our classrooms. We have already started doing our small groups with our SLP. The speech language therapist works with her students, I work with another group and the paraprofessionals work with the remaining students. We have been working on communication skills like requesting wanted items and practicing how to share!

We have created a lesson to use the buses with an interactive book. They have had so much fun with these buses and are the top requested item.

We also created a food activity with the cutting food bag. We created a visual board that allows our students to point to the image of the food item they would like.

We created a special area for the farmhouse and animals. When working in a small group to practice our communication skills, we have visuals available on the table to help students request animals or to point to the picture to answer questions we are asking them.”

  • Let's Get Organized

    Funded Apr 28, 2023

Thank you so much for your support in helping me get my classroom organized and functioning more efficiently.

The small bins have allowed me to sort and display toys so our students can easily access them.

The medium size bins have all of our large Legos and blocks in them. The bins have allowed me to neatly stack them for easy access.

The large bins have become the home for our backpacks that allow us to have more space in out cubbies so we can easily access all of our other daily materials.

The totes have been used to hold all the materials needed for our small group lessons. We have been working on our communication skills and sharing with the cutting food activity.”

  • Mrs. Clean

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you for your donations. Your support has allowed my classroom to run smoothly and effectively. When teaching three- to five-year-olds, every moment of the day is a teachable moment. They are learning important life skills, motor skills and social skills constantly. They are watching the adults model these skills and getting to practice them themselves.

This project has allowed me to keep a clean environment but has also helped my student learn the importance of keeping our areas clean. I have been using the wipes to clean our tables. The baby wipes have been used to teach my students how to clean their own faces and hands during mealtimes.”

  • Accidents Happen

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations! These clothes have been a life saver for me and my paraprofessional. When teaching three- to five-year-olds with special needs, accident, spills and sliding down into a puddle and getting our clothes all wet happens.

We have taken the step to ask all parents to send in an extra change of clothes, but we are all human and sometimes they forget. These cloths have allowed us to quickly move past the accident and get back to learning faster!

Thank you for supporting my students and helping us create a loving and welcoming school environment.”

  • Safety First

    Funded Apr 19, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. This wagon helped us out a lot as our ESE classrooms increased the last few months of school. We only have so many hands and this wagon allowed us to transport children around the school campus safely.

We were able to get to lunch and go through the lunch line more effectively. Learning how to wait your turn can be very hard for young children, this wagon helped keep our students calm as they waited to go through the lunch line and while waiting in the carline for their parents to pick them up at dismissal.

Thank you for making transitions less stressful and safe!”

  • Routine Reading

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

My students love these Eric Carle books. Thank you so much for helping us get them.

We use them multiple times throughout the day. I use them during whole group where we learn how to use the books appropriately. We practice turning pages as we sing the story (in the pictures). Then, I differentiate the book activity for small groups. For my non-verbal students, we work on answering questions about the pictures in the story by pointing or imitating words. For my high-level students, we work on finding sight words and answering higher order thinking questions.

Thank you for helping these preschool students learn how to love books!”

  • Home Communication Boards

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for these materials that will allow me to create personalized communication boards for my students and their families.

We have already started implementing the use of the communication boards in my classroom and they are really helping my students communicate their wants and needs. The majority of my students are non-verbal or just beginning to use words. Having the ability to point to a visual with these portable, interchangeable communication boards has really decreased their stress levels and improved their confidence in getting their own needs met. These communication boards give them a way to tell us what items they would like to play with or which food items they would like to eat at mealtimes.

I can't wait to sit and work with the parents on how to use these communication boards at home, so they continue working on their children's communication skills outside of school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gumina

My ESE Pre-K class is located in one of Hillsborough County low-income areas. 100% of my students receive free/reduced lunch. Children are placed into my class for a variety of reasons. My class size, the age of my students and the disabilities my students have varies every year. Disabilities like Autism, Down Syndrome, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), visual impairments, and other developmental and language/communication delays. My class currently has 3 students (and grows monthly with short notice). Some are non-verbal while others are beginning to read; their personalities and needs are so different. With this age and learning gap, it's important to have differentiated instruction, engaging activates and to provide one on one or very small group instructions to teach based on each students current needs. I want my students to learn how to be nice friends, be happy and have FUN at school!
