Let's Make Art!
Funded Sep 12, 2019When my students learned that we received a big donation of art supplies, they were excited to think about what they can make with the new supplies! With the generous donations you gave, my students have been motivated to create excellent works of art. When extra supplies are readily available, the students' creativity enhances greatly. Through Donors Choose, we are able to order more specialized materials, and the artworks created from these materials reflect the higher quality of them.
Since we received the donation of our supplies, we have been able to create sculptures of tiny food using Super Sculpey polymer clay, build models of houses with the help of lots of masking tape, and cover personalized, and built from scratch, phone stands with plaster cloth. As my students learn how to use these materials, their creative-thinking wheels begin turning while they think of what they can do with these supplies next. Since my class size has doubled, we would not have been able to use these materials without your donation. My students and I are very grateful for your compassion and generosity!”

Funded Oct 18, 2018First I would like to note that my students come from low-income families, and typically do not have access to a computer at home. The students are always excited to be able to use the computers in our school through the computer labs and library, but having access to a computer in the classroom is extra special for them.
As an art teacher, I have always allowed my students to use their devices to find particular references for their artwork, but there are many times when students do not even have a device in their possession. Since we do not allow the students to use our laptops that are provided for teacher use only, I wanted to be able to provide the opportunity for the students without devices to use the classroom laptops.
As expected, all of my students are very anxious to use the laptops for their art projects in doing research and finding references. My eighth grade students, in particular, love the ability to grab a laptop for their use. I have found that most of my students are digitally responsible and are very careful in hopes to continue to use our classroom computers. My students and I thank you very much for giving us this opportunity.”
