  • Achieving Aura!

    Funded Mar 31, 2025

Thanks once again for helping me get a project funded. Your generosity never ceases to amaze me and I truly appreciate your willingness to give! Thanks for being awesome people and supporting students who you do not personally know, or likely will never even meet. You truly make a difference!”

    With gratitude,

  • Playing With SPIKE Is Like Riding a Bike

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

After teaching Middle School and High School for the past five years I have learned that a lot of instructional tools that are good for elementary students are still very effective for middle school students, especially when those middle school students have never used that specific tool before.

Lego is a universally accepted toy at most ages one might beg to argue, and that is why using Lego spike with 8th graders was a no brainer when I came up with this project. Two students new to the district were probably most fascinated with the resources as they were definitely never exposed to such tools previously in their schooling. Thanks for helping me close the experience gap one project at a time!”

  • Snacks for the STEM Club

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

The students and I are so very thankful for the snacks for STEM Club. It might only amount to an extra hour in the day, but for the youngest middle school students who haven't eaten for hours since their incredibly early lunch period, they are really hungry after school. Since they can't go straight home and get a snack, if they even have that luxury of course, these snacks will help nourish them until their dinner time. A little generosity goes a long way with Donors Choose so we thank you again for choosing our project and deciding you wanted to help us specifically!”

  • Let's Modernize the Cafeteria

    Funded Nov 23, 2024

Thanks so much for helping make our cafeteria a little bit more comfortable for the students. The students already are enjoying the chairs and tables so much that they want more of them. With that said I will probably be doing another similar project soon based off of the success of this one. And what made this so successful was all of you pitching in and helping out where I saw a need in our school. Thanks for giving to students you may never meet in a school you may never enter just out of the kindness of your hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Strine

  • Let's Light These Legos Up!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thanks for making this project happen, and happen so quickly at that! We have already incorporated the 3x3 light matrices into our LEGO Robot designs/builds. While we already had all the components that came with the LEGO Spike Prime kits, having these additional pieces made the project even that much more fun for the students!

Even though these specific middle schoolers will soon be high schoolers they still benefit from creative tasks such as these. One reason we focus on creativity is an article I read in an Education magazine several years ago called "Creativity in Crisis". More standardized testing across the country led to less engaging lessons that allow exploration and creativity! Since then I have made it an effort to incorporate more engaging activities into my classroom lessons.

    Thanks once again!!!”

  • I Pity the Fool without an Arcade Stool

    Funded Sep 20, 2024

Thank you all for contributing to this project. Our arcade had thinned out when we moved two arcade cabinets to other classrooms this year, so we started to make more. Having the arcade stools just completes the whole vibe that excites my tween and teen students!

The students are so familiar with these stools that they actually unpackage them from the box at this point and assemble them without any teacher intervention. I just wish they showed this much enthusiasm and independence with all their school work!”

  • Time To Rap Battle

    Funded May 24, 2024

We are so thrilled to get the Lego Spike kits into our middle school classroom. The great thing about Legos is that they never go out of style, regardless of the age and have such educational potential when put to good use. Thanks for allowing this creative idea to become a creative reality for my students. And building the Legos is just half the battle, as the students will then code songs to match up their Dancing Lego with a fresh, new beat!

Without your generosity and contribution none of this would be possible, and we are eternally grateful for that!”

  • Return of the Mac!

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

Having a state of the art computer in the music studio allows for the students to make some musical masterpieces. With the MacBook students have access to GarageBand in addition to other web based music recording and mixing software!

We can't wait to see what the students will be able to produce and hopefully then publish in a variety of different platforms. This was a big ask, even through Donors Choose, but once again the support was there and I can't thank you all enough for giving to my school and my students!!!”

  • Constructing Our Next Combat Robot

    Funded May 6, 2024

Thanks for supporting our next Combat Robot. Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs) are such a vital part of any bot and in the past we have purchased ones inexpensively and learned the hard way that you need something more reliable. Nothing smells as bad as a burned out ESC :(

When we next create our bot, we will have more capability for power because of this purchase. Thanks again for supporting our efforts now and always. Without donors like you, we would not be able to achieve the great things we are achieving!”

While the students at my school love to use the computers we have, they love to print out things as well, but documents are only so exciting to them! With a 3D printer the students will be able to imagine, design, and finally print whatever they want really. Having a tangible object to hold after creating it on the computer goes such a long way in rewarding one's efforts! Using programs such as Google SketchUp, students will be given basic guidelines as to what to make, but will have quite a bit of autonomy with the construction of their creation!
