After hurricane Harvey, my campus was split between four schools. This move was a difficult adjustment for our parents, students, and teachers. After 4 months of being away from our campus; we are finally back, and for the first time, we opened a classroom to use specifically as a Motor Lab which specializes in giving our PK students the adequate motor skills they desperately need in the classroom. Since it's the first time that our campus has had a classroom such as this one; we have a very small amount of material to use. In the Motor Lab; aside from involving the students in simple exercises such as the crab walk, the bear walk, and teaching them to cross the mid line; the students will also learn to develop their ever growing imagination through the use of building blocks, magna tiles, and play dough. Along with using their fine motor skills while utilizing the activity boards and alphabet mazes; they will have "play time" to learn to recognize the alphabet. The materials I have requested will be strongly utilized in our Motor Lab and our entire PK grade level will be able to use them. All these materials were specifically chosen to improve the motor skills (fine and gross) of these children who are preparing to start writing. These materials will give them the motor skills necessary before the pencil and paper phase.
