My students typically work one-on-one with me due to their special needs. However, they enjoy working together too. My classroom is not huge but it will fit this particular table. By having the table, my students will be able to work together on projects while learning to socialize and interact with other students. This is a skill that is so important. By supporting this project, you are helping students with special needs learn to socialize and building their confidence as they learn to read and comprehend materials that are easier to read but are still interesting to them. Many books that are written at an easier reading level are not interesting. They are written for toddlers. I have chosen books that my students will be able to read but that are also exciting and cover topics of interest for their age level. They will be able to choose books that they actually want to read. Many of my students are still building confidence in their reading and for them to read books of interest, just like their peers do, helps with believing in their abilities. I truly believe in their ability to read but I need you help in getting materials that will motivate them.
