These kits will allow children to enter into a world of discovery in Math, Science, Technology, Engineering and Language Arts. Each kit comes with one motor, a power pak, motion sensor, tilt sensor and lego pieces needed to build robots. The software for the WeDo 2 introduces the students to programming simply at first and then more complex. Students build robots that move and make varied sounds. Introducing students to programming at a young age enables them to understand connections in technology. Not only will children learn to program and build robots using the software and materials that come with each kit, but they will also become team players who will do research based on the theme for First Lego League Jr. Students join other students from around the world to create a scenario using legos and the WeDo robots to demonstrate research they pursued congruent to the theme. At the culmination of the season teams gather at a given location to showcase and explain their research and scenario to judges. It is not a competition like the older students, but rather a gathering to showcase and share with other teams. Not only are the children learning engineering skills and programming but they are also learning to become players on a team. It's important to note that even though they are programming onto a laptop or ipad and using bluetooth there are other activities that engage the child such as engineering and story telling. The WeDo2 is extremely well rounded and targets all learning styles.
