STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is a new subject in our school this year, and we're slowly building our supply of engaging classroom tools. These three items were specifically selected because I've watched my own children play with them, and their open-ended nature has made them popular for several years in our home. Learning through play is essential with children, who are naturally curious explorers. STEM is frequently described as a favorite subject, and I suspect it's because the students see the challenges as play. Also, bringing familiar objects such as toys as the focus of the lesson builds students' confidence that they can succeed in class. For example, a child may not fully understand the concept of electrical circuits, but is willing to explore a toy that uses circuits. Thank you for supporting our classroom to allow more diverse learning opportunities for our K-2 students as we continue to add to our STEM lab!
