Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and has been proven to increase focus and engagement in lessons. In the past, my students would lay on the carpet with a clipboard when it was time for independent work. This allows students to make a choice in their learning, and figure out where they learn best. Having flexible seating gives students responsibility and accountability. Our classroom thrives on community; flexible seating is one way that increases the community feel and relationship building in the classroom. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The bands will benefit students who have the wiggles or even aggression by being able to kick the band. The other types of seating such as the bumpy seats or the exercise balls increase sensory input, which, for my students is crucial in their learning.
