  • Low Income Students Need a Washer and Dryer!

    Funded Apr 8, 2019

Thank you for donating to our project for a washer and dryer for our Child Development Center! This has made it easier for our teachers as well as our families. The teachers use the washer/dryer to wash the children's nap items weekly and wash towels, wash cloths, and their clothing as needed. The kitchen staff also uses the washer/dryer to wash their dish towels and aprons. This has been a great convenience allowing our staff to spend more time in the classrooms with the students rather than running back and forth to a laundry mat!”

  • Fish For Thought

    Funded Sep 17, 2018

Thank you for helping fund our project "Fish For Thought". The addition of the new fish and fish tank have been great for our classroom. This has given our students something to watch during transition times which for some students can be a rather difficult time of the day. We are also working on giving the students fore responsibility to help take care of the fish by feeding them. Another way this project has helped our students and our classroom is by providing a new topic for discussion. The students have been writing about the new fish in the tank and drawing pictures for their families as well. We are looking forward to creating more projects so that our students will continue to come into the classroom with excitement.”

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!

    Funded May 31, 2018

Thank you for donating to our project "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!". Our students watched the UPS truck pull up to the school and unload the train table. They were so excited they watched as it was being put together discussing all the different tools used in the process. They have been using the train table to create different tracks for the train and play cooperatively. Next we will be creating another project to add a few more trains and accessories to the train table to further their play and imaginations.”

  • Around the World in the Block Center

    Funded May 13, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation to our project "Around the World in the Block Center". Our students were very excited to watch the UPS truck and the driver unload the packages for our classroom. We have added the family sets and community workers to our block center in our classroom. We are thankful for donors like yourself who are allowing us to upgrade our classroom and make it a more productive learning environment for our young scholars. To continue improving our center and our classroom we are already planning for new projects to provide new and exciting learning experiences for our students.”

  • Fun With Phonics!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for your donation to our project Fun With Phonics! Our children were excited to have new materials to use at circle time. We are working on name and letter recognition in our classroom and these materials will help our children learn their alphabet in new and exciting ways.

Our girls are especially enjoying the new materials. The alphabet puzzles have been helping us work on our fine motor skills as well. We will continue to use these materials during small and large groups as well as during free play. We are looking forward to creating more projects to continue to improve our classroom.”

  • With One Easel We Can Be Creative

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for donating to our project With One Easel We Can Be Creative. Our students loved helping to open the boxes and see what was inside. They played a guessing game to try to guess what was in the different boxes. Once we got them open they were excited to see the easel and the music toys. They were even excited to play with the huge boxes our materials came in!

We have been using the rhythm shakers and tambourines to sing and dance to songs as well as during transitions to make transitioning from one activity to another easier. With our next project we will continue to help our students explore their creative side with more art and music materials.”

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation to our project Planes, Trains, and Automobiles! Our students were so excited to see that UPS truck pull up to the center and unload our boxes! We are a non profit center and do not get the opportunity to receive new toys and materials often. With your help and the help of donorschoose we are able to update our classroom learning centers and provide our students with more opportunities every day.

The students have been using the blocks to create roads and bridges to drive their trucks on, through, and around. We are excited to start another project soon to improve another center!”

My students are naturally curious. From the minute a child gains control of their limbs, they work to put themselves out into the world to see how it all works. They explore, observe and imitate, trying to figure out how things operate and how to control themselves and their environment. This unrestricted exploration helps children form connections in their brain. It helps them learn, and it’s also fun. Art is a natural activity to support this free play in children. The freedom to manipulate different materials in an organic and unstructured way allows for exploration and experimentation. We need a drying rack, paint, tambourines and an easel. These artistic endeavors and self-directed explorations are not only fun but educational as well. With this easel and other materials, my students will be able to practice a wide range of skills that are useful not only for life but also for learning.
