Engaging the mind of autistic learners is the ultimate goal! My students require a color printer and ink to create the color in their projects to increase sensory stimulation and make their minds more willing to learn. Many lessons involve using color to create images for the students to learn word and picture association. Colorful flashcards, differentiated for each student, helps them reach their highest potential. This adds real-world imagery allowing my students to function better in the world. Special needs children are so capable given the right supplies and the right instructional support. I believe I can provide an appropriate environment for my students, but I am lacking basic supplies. The program is new to our school and we are trying to improve it immensely, but this is not possible without the proper supplies like a printer and toner cartridges. We cater to children who live in a low socioeconomic area so it is even more important to give them the experience they need. Our school currently has two printers that the whole school uses that are constantly breaking down and low on toner. Most of the time they are not working so I can not even print out worksheets and resort to working on the whiteboard. Doing projects is difficult. So as a community that embraces educational needs, let's work together for the benefit of all children!
