Words Are Fun!
Funded Nov 21, 2017Many of my students are either learning English as a new language or come to first grade behind where they need to be in reading skills. While we teach reading with different programs, the use of Reading Centers is such an important part of the students day. Working with their friends using language games is so much fun that they don't realize how much these games are reinforcing what they've already learned.
I want to thank you for your kindness and generosity in funding this project. Because of you, children are becoming better readers. This will help them in every aspect of their lives!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kessler

Funded Jun 25, 2012Thank you for donating to my art materials project. My students are mostly poor and since our school has never had an art teacher in the 12 years that I've been there and since the school serves children from preschool all the way through 8th grade, they get to high school having never had a single art class!
The water color pencils you've so generously provided are wonderful. They combine drawing with pencils which the children already know with the exploration of water colors. Magical!
Thank you again for your thoughtfulness. Bless you.”

Funded Jun 25, 2012Thank you for your generosity, giving to children you've never met. Surrounded by endless news of the terrible things going on in the world, it's sometimes easy to forget that there are so many wonderful people out there who are wanting to help others any way they can.
We have not gotten to our unit on the human body yet this year but I can hardly wait for the class to see the cool materials that you've provided or them - some of it truly gross, which kids love! When children have fun learning, the knowledge stays with them.
Again, thank you for being a partner in helping children succeed.”

Funded Mar 1, 2012The world is a better place with you people in it. Thank you so much for your kindness and
generosity! I cannot wait to see the looks on the faces of my students when this beautiful red table is set up and they get to use the computers comfortably. Did I mention it's RED? School furniture is so drab and dismal but this will be a beautiful beacon drawing them over.
This has been a tough year for everyone, fiscally. Our budget's been frozen so there's no new anything. I love that you thought of my students, not even knowing them, and made this amazing gift happen for them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kessler
Art? What's Art?
Funded Oct 12, 2011It is SUCH a luxury to be able to just take the drawing paper I need for our class projects without having to think about if the activity we're doing is important enough to use it. We having been using our paper to create projects in math, social studies, science, and literacy.
Children should be able to create in schools and your generous donation has helped make that possible! Whenever I announce that we're going to the class that we're going to create a poster, picture, or art project, cheers go up from the children.
Thank you again for your kindness.”

And That's All They Wrote!
Funded Sep 14, 2011The supplies you have provided to my class have made a tremendous difference! It's hard to believe that, in a country as rich as ours, students can go without the bare necessities such as writing paper.
It was a great day when our boxes arrived! Ream after ream of fabulous writing paper and the most beautiful red table drew a chorus of delightful noise from the children.
We have been working hard this year to become better writers. Many of my children do not have the help they need at home for many reasons: parents who do not speak, read or write English, parents who are so busy working in a tough economy that they are just exhausted at the end of the day, parents who are uneducated and unable to help their children and sadly, some parents who don't really seem to care.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!”

Funded Sep 1, 2010What to do? So many children come to school not knowing how to behave towards each other! The simple lessons of sharing and kindness I remember from my own childhood seem to be missing.
Instead of lecturing (so easy to tune out!), I am able to read stories about the importance of good behavior, compassion, and empathy. The materials you so generously supplied have been used for months now. If a child makes less than terrific choices in their behavior, we can stop and discuss what a specific character did in one of these stories and get back on the right track!
Your acts of selflessness in supplying all of these books to children you don't even know is a lesson in itself...we spent a morning talking about why people help each other.
Your gift is so thoughtful and greatly appreciated.”

Creating Art!
Funded Jul 29, 2010Your donation has made an ongoing difference in my classroom. The children use the classroom set of markers often and have made crafts with the other materials. Some we have yet to use!
Even at the first grade level, we are pushed to teach to future tests and while it is important that children learn needed skills, they still need to every opportunity explore their own creativity. There's always a sigh of relief and a tingle of excitement when the art supplies come out!
Thank you for your generosity. Without people like you, these under-served children would be missing out on so much!
With much love and gratitude,

The Daily 5 In Action!!
Funded Aug 2, 2009Thank you so much for funding The Daily 5 In Action! The easel that you bought for my class is a beauty...it is a wipe off board, a huge clip board to hold chart paper, and also magnetic. I have used it almost every single day since I received it.
My 2nd graders very occasionally get to write on it and it's considered a special privilege. They also have worked in groups with magnetic words to increase their knowledge of the English language. I know it has helped me teach. Again, thank you very much. You could have spent your money anywhere and you spent it on us.”

We Need Force! And Motion!!
Funded Jul 25, 2009A groan always goes up from the 2nd grade teachers when they see they have to teach Force and Motion as part of their science curriculum. It's a topic that can be dull as anything but with my Force and Motion Game, the Force and Motion Activity Tub and the Science Photo Cards that you generously paid for, my class can have fun while they're learning! We start this unit next month so the materials haven't been opened yet by the class....they only got to get a peek so they could thank you!
I know my class. As soon as they get the opportunity, they'll be requesting these learning games daily! I love that I can use learning games as a reward.
Thank you so very much for your kindness towards my class. It is greatly appreciated.”

Ms. Kessler
