College & Career Signing Day 2021
Funded Jul 20, 2021Our project was fulfilled over the summer so we created a college application/early graduate celebration. our school celebrated the completion of the Class of 2022's College applications. Two of our seniors celebrated an early graduation. Both students committed to CUNY and started college this spring. During our assembly, several seniors spoke to the entire class giving words of encouragement.
During our celebration the seniors took career and college bound selfies, signed a class of 2022 banner with an inspiring motivational quote, they created college pennants and filmed time capsule videos for the underclassmen.
Students felt special. After a long semester of stress, tears, insecurity, they felt proud to have completed the first phase of this year's application process. They were also surprised! Normally, senior committee is involved with all activities. For this one they were not included in the planning. They were not expecting a personalized celebration. They were also not expecting a raffle.
As a college counselor my work involves early awareness in my school community. My goal for the class of 2023 is to increase family engagement through authentic experiences on college campuses with parents and students, on campus college fair, Family FAFSA days, Career & College List Making Day for juniors and their families.
We celebrate because we are proud. We celebrate because it is builds a college going community. We celebrate because college changes lives and whole families. We look forward to our upcoming commitment day celebration in May. Thank you for believing.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hamilton

Funded Apr 19, 2019On May 15th, our school celebrated the Class of 2019's College decisions. Our seniors celebrated their college commitment and the commitment of their peers. Each senior created a college pennant. During our celebration the seniors took college bound selfies, signed a class of 2019 banner with an inspiring motivational quote, they created college pennants and filmed time capsule videos for the underclassmen.
Our students enjoyed personalized college cupcakes and certificates shouting out their accomplishments. The entire school gathered in our hallways and cheered on our seniors as they beamed with pride.
Students felt special. After a long year of stress, tears, insecurity, they felt proud. They were also surprised! Normally, senior committee is involved with all activities. For this one they were shut out of the library. I think they were expecting lunch. They were not expecting a personalized celebration. They were also not expecting a raffle.
Your donation helped us raffle 24 items any college student would need in their first year. Students received raffle tickets for excellent attendance, good grades, exemplar leadership and community involvement, and for each activity station they completed during our celebration. Then they chose which of the raffles they wanted to enter.

College Signing Day 2018
Funded Apr 11, 2018On May 10th, our school celebrated the Class of 2018's College decisions. Our seniors celebrated their college commitment and the commitment of their peers. Each senior created a chalk t-shirt. On commitment day they designed it with the name of the school they would be attending. (At our senior farewell, they wrote their senior quotes on their shirts.) These shirts allowed students to show school pride since many were unable to purchase college t-shirts. It also allowed the rest of the school community to see what college bound looks like.
