Crossing the World in Reading
Funded Sep 16, 2012Dear Kia Motors and Anonymous Donor,
I was so thrilled to share with the students about our upcoming book. They have now arrived and the are anxious to get started. Simply, the excitement for learning and reading is a joy to see.
Also, we have a new social studies teacher. This book is designed to integrate world studies of history and maps. I am able to plan with not only a different content teacher, but serve as a mentor to this new teacher.
We look forward to working with this novel, and the author created website that supports this learning Thank you so much for making it possible!”

Funded Sep 26, 2012Dear Denny Amrhein and Anonymous Donor,
Thank you so much for your donation. The dictionaries have already arrived. It was great just looking at the dictionaries on the shelf! Then, when the students came into class, and had them in there hands! They were able to use not just great dictionaries, but they were beaming with pride to have such beautiful, new books. I know we will all take great care of our new resource.
They are now able to use the dictionary on all parts of their state assessments, so we will jump right into getting used to using them on a regular basis. Rest, knowing your donation is being put to good use on a daily basis.”

How I See Myself
Funded Sep 26, 2012Thank you so much for the Digital Camera. It is so nice and compact. It is easy to store and use! The kids are excited and already used it today. It truly came on a perfect day. They were able to use the camera to record their informative papers. They had to read their original composition, and then the polished paper. It was really interesting to see how they reacted to their papers. They had not realized how incomplete and rough their first draft was.
Watching themselves on video proved to be very effective. They were able to verbally communicate in a conference with their peers and me, just how much their writing had changed. It was wonderful and proved to promote huge growth.
Thank you so much for your donation and the difference you make in our class!”

Reading Across the Board
Funded Mar 24, 2012Thank you to all of you. My students have had the opportunity to work with these reading resources. I have been able to share the different subject based magazines, and the math and science teachers have integrated some of the materials with their regular curricula. We are excited about using them, as it is designed to send us more issues throughout the school year. We are working to make more plans to best use these materials, and gain the biggest benefit from them.
It is also great to have a resource that is in color, and really engages the students. They treat the magazines like new books! They love them! Thank you again for your support. ”

Save it in a Flash!
Funded Nov 30, 2011I cannot thank you enough to demonstrate the excitement and extent of the use of these flashdrives. My students are no longer needing to write extensive papers, draft after draft in order to complete and present a developed research paper. They are able to demonstrate their editing abilities and do it in a timely fashion. No longer are the students spending the bulk of their time re-writing papers with corrections.
We have been able to use these thumbdrives to start many other projects, such as piecing together a newsletter and their many presentations. This technology is not new, but wasn't available for many of my students, due to income challenges. Thank you so much for your support.”

First School Newspaper!
Funded Feb 25, 2011I am so thankful for your generosity. I received the laptop and printer yesterday afternoon! It came so quick, and I cannot wait to share the news and technology with the students. They have only seen the newsletter in color, when viewing an original color copy, I printed off. It will boost their excitement and pride to such a joyous level.
Towards the end of the year, there are so many events for them to write about. Also, it will be great to have the technology already in place for the upcoming school year! We will be able to integrate the laptop and printer to be such a great tool that our society demands them to be fluid with concerning composition.
Thank you so much, again. ”

Technology Tools While Pregnant
Funded Nov 26, 2010Thank you so much for the calculators and laptops. My girls have already seen an increase in their own productivity in all subjects. Technology seems to always enhance the engagement of my students, so they are more willing to stay on task and complete assignments. This is crucial for their success, as it increased their odds of wanting to stay in school and graduate.
They have been able to use the calculators for math, as well as their science courses. The laptops have given them the opportunity to complete assignments with a level of professionalism and send them directly to their home campus teachers. When they are able to use that same laptop to view their grades, that instant feedback motivates them to do more.
Thank you so much for these resources. It will continue to have a huge impact for years to come!”

Funded Dec 16, 2010Thank you so much for your support in my classroom. The computers are used to allow them the opportunity to prepare professional type of rhetoric, and now they have even begun to publish a student newsletter. It is crucial that they have access to technology that supports that learning and the avenue to complete work in a manner that is conducive for today's jobs.
I am so excited and grateful that my classroom is becoming more geared for our 21st century learning, and ultimately society. I owe you many thanks for your support in this venture.”

Funded Aug 25, 2010I cannot express in words the excitement I feel with the success of the use of CD players in my classroom. Students are eager to get in line to check out the CD player for the class period. They are engaged in their book, and are able to do without being conscious of being viewed as someone who needs help reading.
They have told me how listening to the author has helped them understand the novel better, and they appreciate and better understand reading fluency with inflection in the voice, and how it effects comprehension and character development.
I am just thrilled to have you be a part of their lives, in such an effective way. Thank you so much for your contribution. It really chokes me up...knowing how much you care for students you don't even know. At a campus of this type, there is no PTA or PTO, or much of a celebration on teacher appreciate day, but there is now a reason to celebrate all year round with a community member, named Monica. With your donation, you are constant reminder of the love and thought that was demonstrated through your donation. ”
