One of our science standards for third grade is for students to demonstrate an understanding of how electricity transfers energy. Makey-Makey kits will enhance our electricity unit as we build circuits and learn about conductors and insulators and the jobs they perform to create electricity. Students will be able to assemble models using the Makey-Makey materials and then describe the process in which electrical currents pass through the paths. Through problem-solving, observations, and investigations, my future engineers will develop skills, such as collaboration, teamwork, trial, and error, that are needed to be successful in a variety of subjects as well as prepare them for real-life scenarios that encompass those same skills.
