  • 'Stop and Jot' To Own The Learning

    Funded Oct 5, 2022

This project allowed me to push my students to communicate in an array of ways. Be assured, those resources we possessed, due to your kindness, were well-used and extremely beneficial. We are so grateful you consider us in your lives ! Thank you is not enough to properly convey the impact your generosity has had in our class and the growth therein.

We had plenty of supplies and ,therefore, were never unable to extend our learning using various means of presentation. You were a major reason our year was as successful as it was. The test scores and the daily engagement of these students are clear proof of their growth. Thank you for supporting the value of my students as the leaders I know they can become. You are ,undoubtedly, special.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

  • Hands-On Tomorrow's Leaders!

    Funded Dec 8, 2021

Our students so greatly benefitted from your generosity. After a time of great sacrifice, in terms of the students' missed presence in the classroom and the loss resulting from Covid protocols, our children were finally able to re-engage in learning and its social lens. The games and the paints were so needed and much-loved. Students shared their understanding of texts and curriculum in artistic expression. They determined to show their perspective of animals they chose to study and research, women in history, and individuals who made an impact from varied ancestry and cultures. They were proud of their finished projects and it was visible in the written work that accompanied each. Their work gave birth to conversations among peers as they shared details of the people and animals on whom they've begun to be experts. These tools allowed them to feel more empowered in their representations and propelled them to formulate a more thorough understanding of their chosen topic. The third grade teachers were all appreciative of the benefit these tools provided.

In addition, the games and hands-on tools allowed opportunities for social interaction and familiarity-building in the social norms present in game situations. Thank you!!”

  • Tech Tools To Complete The Virtual Experience

    Funded Oct 9, 2020

Thank you so much for your support as I used this technology to better engage my students in the virtual experience. In virtual learning, it allowed me to see my class as I was presenting an activity or interactive tool. I also used it to model writing when I worked in small groups on Google Meet.

Currently, we are using the Ipad and pen to share a Reader's reflection- an in-class book review collaborative that promotes reading and discussions of readings.

You have chosen to support my students and , in return, they are supported to their optimal growth.

Please know that you have made a difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

  • In-Person and Hands-On!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Our classroom was fully stocked and ready to go upon the official return of the students. Due to the kind hearts of our donors, each member of our class immediately had access to his/her own crayons, scissors, glue, paints, and interactive supplies. In addition, our classroom library was well-organized and easy to navigate. As a result, we've accumulated a substantial number of book reviews about books that our students want to recommend to one another. They are so happy to be able to share their thoughts and support with artwork and writing.

During virtual learning, many students had reported a lack of interaction with drawing and writing materials. So, it has been such a gift to have set these things up as a given: as routine tools through which they are expected to express themselves and their valid thoughts and interests.

My students and I will always be grateful for your sacrifice and support. Please know how much of a difference it made in the third grade experience for each of these future leaders. They love learning. They are not afraid to push themselves or be pushed, and they understand that mistakes are a part of the journey. The supplies which surround them deliver that message as they are free to choose to use them to create visual demonstrations of their learning in many content areas. Wishing you all the blessings in 2022!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

  • Engaging in VIRTUAL LEARNING

    Funded Sep 23, 2020

Thank you so much for helping us to improve our connection with better technology. You have made such a difference in our daily interactions. We were able to see one another as I joined on multiple devices in order to present while being fully tuned in to their level of engagement.

It made our year so much more successful. Truly, we greatly appreciate your interest in the growth of our students. We are certain that support like that pays dividends. Trust that we worked every single day to exceed all those expectations set for us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

  • Building Stamina for Readers

    Funded Feb 11, 2019

Our room is alive with readers!!! Thank you so much for your generosity! We have designated our new living room area with a sofa, a chair and a book rack for easy access. The rug is so comfortable as seen in the way the kids love to lay on it and enjoy their books.

Your support of our classroom is empowering! It has conveyed the expectation that they are being depended upon. They know that people who understand the world make better decisions. They navigate through life better and they are fully capable of making the world a better place. Building the atmosphere for more reading is key to preparing them to take that attitude into their homes and out into the world. They read, share their thoughts and knowledge, and gain new experiences as they do so.

It's so rewarding to watch them grow! I cannot thank you enough for believing in them and for supporting me in my quest to help each of them fulfill their potential! Please know that along with our gratitude comes a promise of growth that will provide dividends to all of us!

We wish you all the blessings in life. You made such an impact on these little hearts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

  • Readers For Life

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The opportunity to be a witness to growth and the excitement surrounding learning is a blessing. It is an even greater blessing to know that others care too!! Your donation has allowed that growth to reach its potential. Please know that you have helped me attain the goals set for my students. The listening center, headphones, play dough, stamps, mats, and learning games have supported those skills we are working on. They loved center/guided reading time. The books for guided reading and independent reading opened up so many avenues of understanding and truly made such a difference for these first graders. I wish you would've heard the kids laughing as we read the joke books or watched as they - rapt with attention- relaxed in the listening center listening to the folk tales while following along. It was just perfect!

To say that they enjoyed what you gave to our class would be an understatement. To say that it made an impact - well, that wouldn't even come close to telling the story. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! We wish you all well always.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

I am the proud teacher of a precious group of inner-city third grade learners who are a few years into what I sincerely hope is a long and successful educational experience for each of them. Our school is a kindergarten to fourth grade public school in the heart of Philadelphia. It is comprised of about 600 neighborhood children who all qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Further, it qualifies for a Title I designation. In our room - and in third grade, we aspire to 'hook' our students with a love of reading that will carry them through any challenges, build understanding of the world, and strengthen compassion for others through a shared experience fortified by exposure to both fiction and non-fiction texts. This requires an assortment of texts on a daily basis. We have access to a reading program which serves our shared reading purposes. For guided reading, we frequently make copies of books.
