Books or Bust!
Funded Sep 11, 2022Thanks to your generosity my students are more excited than ever for reading time. We have updated our grade level reading curriculum, and my students are fully engaged while expanding their vocabulary, knowledge base, and reading stamina within grade level texts. We used the nonfiction owl book to discover text features and write about new facts they found interesting. I was able to update a lesson with new materials that kept my students asking questions and wanting to learn more. My students love that they are the first group to read these books and ask each week if I've ever read this book before. I am truly thankful for the donations my classroom received, and know my students will be thankful for years to come.”

Funded Feb 18, 2020Thank you so much for our classroom set of headphones! We needed new headphones because some of the classroom sets we had were broken, and the few that worked had to be shared. This resulted in numerous challenges, from frustration among students to sessions needing to be rescheduled.
The students were so excited to have new headphones! Some of them might come from lower economic background and new technology (even headphones) is always exciting! Having enough for each student meant that we were able to use them immediately without having to share, which meant they spent more time actively engaged in the lessons rather than simply waiting for their turn or becoming distracted. This allowed me to spend less time refocusing attention or correcting behavior and more time instructing students or providing one on one attention.
In particular, there was one little boy who was especially excited by the new headphones and was eager to start the lesson. It's always good to have students eager to learn! The technology has already been helpful and will continue to provide for the student's needs in the future.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Smith
