  • Creating the Things We Wish Existed Through S.T.E.M.

    Funded May 30, 2019

My students have loved the new resources that we were able to purchase with your generous help. The students in my class have been working on their writing skills. They have been working on creating a fun narrative that includes a character meeting a monster. The students used the "Shrinking Paper" to create their character or monster. Students had to think about how they described their character or monster in their story. They then had to make a replica of the character or monster that they wrote about. The students loved doing this activity, and even forgot that they were learning while completing it. This has helped make writing fun for the students in my classroom. When students complete tasks early, they are also able to explore the ways that these materials work. A few of the students got done early and had fun exploring how ironing beads work. The students created their design, and then I ironed them. The students were fascinated to learn how the iron melted the beads and fused their design together. We have had a lot of fun exploring all of the materials that we were able to purchase with your help.”

  • Storage For A Flexible Room.

    Funded May 9, 2018

I would like to take a moment to thank you for helping donate to help provide storage for our classroom. This storage has made a huge impact within our classroom. By having this storage, my students are able to enjoy flexible seating. Flexible seating helps the students in my classroom feel more comfortable, which in return allows them to do their best work.

The storage within our classroom was used to help hold our library of books, as well as cubbies for each student to hold their books. My students use tables and flexible seating in the place of the traditional desk. By getting rid of the desks, it took away the storage for books that those desks had. Therefore, I have used the cubbies to in place of this. Each student has their own cubby, where they keep their books and supplies in. The students have loved having their own place to keep their belongings.

Again, I would like to thank you for helping support our classroom with being able to carry out our flexible seating. These cubbies are going to help my class enjoy flexible seating for years to come. This storage helps my students be able to enjoy more room to get comfortable and do their best work. The excitement on their faces with flexible seating is amazing, but their love for having ownership over their own cubby is priceless.”

  • Makerspace - It's All About Hands-On Learning and Creating!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to take a minute to thank you for donating to my classroom. My students were so excited to be able to implement a Makerspace within our classroom. They can't wait until they get a free minute to work on their Makerspace project.

The students in my classroom love building and doing hands-on projects. Once my students heard about all of these cool items that were donated to the classroom, they wanted to forget about recess and just do Makerspace. The LittleBits really make my kids think outside box when they are working with them. They love the endless possibilities that they can create with the 3D doodler and duct tape.

My students have dipped their feet into the world of Makerspace and can't wait for their next projects. The students are in charge of their own learning when it comes to Makerspace. Kids are naturally curious, so this is perfect for their curiosity! Each student has to figure out what they want to make, make a plan, and carry out their plan. In the end they get to reflect on their project and see what they could have done differently. Again, I would like to thank you for helping fund my classroom for the Makerspace items. You never know, one of my students might just invent the next "big thing"!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jones

All of the resources, that I have chosen, will be used to create maker's space center stations within my classroom. In 4th grade, we do a lot of STEM projects. Our students really like the art side of things, but we don't have Art class. By getting all of these resources, I will be able to incorporate them in order to do STEAM projects, which includes Art within the projects. These resources are going to help students thrive within the classroom by using their curiosity and imagination to create things. Everything that I have asked to be donated will be put to use for my students to learn through their imagination. The donations from this project will help my students explore their curiosity through hands-on learning. I am asking for a 3D doodler so that students can create objects and physically be able to hold the object in their hand. In my project, I have also included littleBits, which are modules that students can snap together to create things. Students can create items to help explore how things are made and work. An example would be a type of electronic. Students will be able to create many different things that will help them further their learning and make real world connections. By making these connections, students will have a better understanding of what they are learning. Some other products that I have asked for are duct tape kits and lego kits. With these items, students will be able to explore their creativity and build things. Often, students learn better when they are able to create a visual representation of what they are learning. Students will be able to use the legos to build and explore. When students can visualize things, they are able to have a more concrete understanding.
