Exploring the Tree of Life with Interactives
Funded Feb 26, 2020On behalf of the students I would like to thank you for your generous donations. I know that the students' learning experiences will be much more enjoyable because of your donation.
Additionally, I would like to thank you for making my own teaching experience more enjoyable. The proper tools make my lessons more effective and efficient which makes my job more rewarding.”

Funded Aug 31, 2019The Chromebooks purchased through your donations have made the overall learning environment in my classroom more fun and engaging. At the same time, they have made teaching my courses more efficient and cost-effective.
The Chromebooks, obtained through DonorsChoose, have been employed for activities that are more engaging for students than the traditional classroom setting. In my Chemistry classes, we use Kahoot, an online learning game, to help students memorize ions that are not easily predicted. My students had a blast playing the game and learned at the same time. In biology we have used the chromebooks to research food webs and then use real world data do investigate the 10% rule. We will also use them to compare DNA sequences and build cladograms. The Chromebooks have also been used in Anatomy and Physiology to play Anatomy Arcade games that helped them master the names and functions anatomical structures. The examples above are just a few of the ways the Chromebooks purchased through DonorsChoose with your donations have advanced learning in my classroom.
As mentioned above, the Chromebooks are streamlining the learning process in my classroom. When using the Chromebooks for tests and quizzes I can see in real time which concepts students have learned well and which ones they haven't learned well. Such data allows me to more efficiently choose topics I need to spend time remediating. Also, by using the Chromebooks for tests and quizzes, I have been able to cut down my classes operational costs as well as save a few trees.
Overall, the Chromebooks have been a boon to my classroom. As such, I cannot thank all of you who have donated to my projects enough! It is encouraging to know that their people and companies are still excited about our younger generation's education and future.”

Mr. DeRennaux

Funded Mar 8, 2018I can't thank all the Donors to this project enough you for your help! Donors for this project included Verizon, The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools, and generous anonymous donors.
The Chromebooks purchased with your donations were instrumental in helping students prepare for their state standardized science exam. Using a diagnostic online tutorial program, students quickly identified their content deficiencies. Then students corrected their content deficiencies using targeted tutorials (from both the program and teacher), games, and mastery tests prescribed by the online tutorial. As a result, student felt more confident taking the state standardized science exam.
I also used the Chromebooks, obtained through DonorsChoose, for additional learning activities. In Chemistry, my students used the Chromebooks to view the 3-dimensional structure of various molecules and then relate their structure to function. Additionally, my Anatomy and Physiology students used Anatomy Arcade to master the names and functions anatomical structures. The above are just a few of the ways the Chromebooks purchased through DonorsChoose have advanced learning in my classroom.
Overall, the Chromebooks have greatly helped me engage my students to learn required content. The students have also been very excited about the new learning venues offered to them.”
