  • Purposeful and Interactive Play

    Funded Oct 10, 2021

Thank you so much for helping out our classroom. The tower builders have been a big hit. The children enjoy challenging themselves to see how high they can build their towers as they work together. Hopscotch is another fun gross motor activity that the children play together as they also practice number recognition. The children also enjoy small group and free choice play activities with the Alphabet picture magnets. We will continue to introduce more of the materials throughout the school year.”

  • Math and Science Explorers

    Funded Oct 17, 2021

Thank you very much for your contributions! The children used the new cash register to ring up fall purchases at the farmer's market stand we created together. They sold pumpkins, eggs, milk, and fresh vegetables. Next month, we are transforming the farmer's market into a hot cocoa café for the cold months ahead, and the children will continue to use the register as they sell warm beverages and treats. We added the other items such as the insect puzzle connectors and safety viewers to the science center and the ladybug number counters and peg set to the math and manipulatives center. The children are able to freely choose these materials during center play. We are very appreciative!”

  • Puzzle Solvers

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Wow, we've had so much fun with these resources! They really added to our "Life Around Us" theme throughout the month of November and continue to be a source of playful learning. The children incorporate the traffic signs into our cardboard neighborhood block play as they drive around the city. The children also work together to build different train track designs as they joyfully watch the train navigate their paths together in the block center. Moreover, the children really enjoy exploring different emotions and facial expressions through the new puzzle set. They are so happy thanks to your contributions!”

  • Master Builders

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you very much for the incredible materials. The tool set is a favorite in the dramatic play center. The children pretend to repair a leaky faucet, loose cabinets and chairs. During free choice play, the children adore the animal world duplo blocks and cooperatively build with each other throughout the day. The magnetic cabin blocks are also a big hit. The building materials provide endless ways for the children to get creative and construct a variety of structures. They plan together and share materials while connecting over a shared interest. They are truly enjoying the manipulatives.”

  • Enhanced Free Choice Play

    Funded Apr 4, 2021

Thank you so much for your contributions! The magic writing board is one of the favorite choices in the library center. It is used daily as the children practice writing and drawing. It is also a calm and quiet activity the children can go to as needed in a busy classroom. Moreover, the baby dolls are being cared for attentively by the children. They take turns feeding and dressing the dolls. They play doctor visit and give the baby dolls checkups with our doctor tool set. One of the students lovingly walks around the classroom with her favorite doll in the baby carrier throughout the day. We appreciate these materials very much.”

  • Collaborative Classroom Centers

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you for contributing to interactive free choice centers in our classroom. The children continue to enjoy each other's company while engaging with the math, science and block center materials. They find a sense of autonomy in selecting their free play centers along with which materials they will use and how they will incorporate them into their play experiences. There is lots of exploration, investigation and purposeful play. Your support enables the children to make the most of each school day!”

  • Sensory Seekers

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing this beautiful, natural sand table to our classroom! We did some classroom rearranging to find the perfect spot for it, and the children were immediately excited to investigate at the table during free center play. There's much more space for the children to experiment and collaborate! We will continue to add new tools and sensory materials throughout the school year for the children to explore. This table will contribute to so many discoveries and meaningful play.”

  • Preschool Crafty Creations

    Funded Jul 30, 2021

Thank you so much for the amazing art materials. We completed our first project! The children created sensory beach paintings with acrylic paints, shells, sponges, sand and pearl stickers. Each child's process art piece turned out beautifully unique. Some of the children even added the pearls inside the shells to form oysters. The children created sunny beach scenes, stormy ones and deep sea paintings.

The children were very excited to display and share their beach scenes with each other and family. We are happy for you to see our artwork too.”

  • Preschool Ocean Adventurers

    Funded Jul 18, 2021

We are having so much fun diving into learning about the ocean and the different species of life it holds. This week, we are making our own cardboard submarine in order to go deeper into our ocean life exploration. We will be learning about sharks and how important they are to our ecosystem. The children enjoyed a process art experience with paint, sand and salt inspired by the illustrations from Following Papa's Song. They identified various sea animals and read about and observed their behaviors. We've also done many investigations and science experiments involving water. The children learned about tides and the moon's magnetic pull. They had so much fun pretending to be the moon and acting out its effects, causing high and low tides. We are so excited to continue our unit.”

  • Ocean Explorers Continued

    Funded Jul 22, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing ocean life books to our classroom. Two weeks ago, we studied whales and learned that the blue whale is the largest animal on earth. The children were very impressed that it is larger than extinct dinosaurs. We listened to the amazing sounds whales use to communicate and to hunt for food. We looked at the similarities and differences between humpback, grey, blue, beluga and narwhal whales. This past week, we finished exploring sea turtles. The children voted on their favorite sea turtle selection for us to reread on a classroom graph. Poky the Turtle Patrol had the most votes. We also sequenced the life cycle of a sea turtle and enjoyed learning about the different types of turtles. Now shark week is ahead! We can't wait!”

As our building goes through major renovations, the children will be experiencing construction first hand. We wish to extend and enhance the children's upcoming "Under Construction" theme in order to further their skills and development with tools, construction, measurement, problem-solving and peer cooperation. We hope to encourage greater thinking and reasoning, fine motor strength, creativity and more! Additionally, the requested materials will allow the children to carry out building projects based upon our literacy selections. The children may experiment with different materials---logs, straw connectors, large hollow blocks---in order to create different types of structures while manipulating hammers, nails and other tools. For a class with many English language learners, these tangible materials provide greater context for vocabulary enrichment and storytelling. The children build confidence as they work together. These team building efforts with additional materials will expand math and science concepts while promoting focus, perseverance and increased spatial awareness.
