A Variety of Items to Support Development in OT.
Funded Jan 5, 2024The impact of this project being funded has been very extensive. The children that I work with in therapy have benefited on so many levels. The visual perceptual puzzles help children develop these visual skills that impact learning and classroom work. The magnetic sand is a great resource as a reward or simply a sensory tool to help calm/touch/create. The legos help to support fine motor skill development and planning skills when following directions to build. The pencil grippers help children to develop an improved pencil grasp for writing tasks. The chimes help classrooms to signify the start of an integrated classroom yoga program and to calm the environment.
We appreciate all of the support and funding for this project that benefits the children and the classrooms throughout the school
Thank You!”

Tools for Occupational Therapy
Funded Aug 28, 2018I am so thankful for the donations for this project as it has supported the students I see for occupational therapy on so many levels. Students benefit from the sensory materials that support self-regulation, body awareness, sensory defensiveness and motor planning. Students also have opportunities to develop fine motor skills and visual perceptual schools needed everyday for classroom tasks.
Students are very excited about the new materials. Students react as they know the materials are for their use and fun in the the therapy room. Students especially like the water beads for tactile inputs and the balance beam for challenging them movement wise.
The next steps for students is to use these materials and incorporate more to build a sensory rich environment and to have resources that support student goals. A therapist should have many outlets to provide meaningful, fun and challenging therapy to the students.”

Resources for Occupational Therapy in the School Setting
Funded Mar 27, 2018The materials received for this project have been impactful in so many ways in the classroom environment, in therapy and throughout the day . The students that need weighted blankets have benefited to help them to calm, focus and complete work at tabletop when necessary. The pencil grips have helped students to improve on their tripod grasp for graphomtor tasks. The sensory brushes help certain children become less sensitive to touch. The zoom ball is a fun activity and develops peer interaction, bilateral skills and coordination. The fine motor toys help to develop hand dexterity skills. Students also utilize the noise canceling headphones around school and throughout the day as needed. All of these tools and more have helped to support the children that I work with in ways that are beneficial and not possible if we didn't have them. I so much appreciate DonorsChoose and the people that support/fund these projects. It's amazing!”
