I want to bring Flexible Seating to my room instead of traditional desks, you will see a variety of seating options, including standing stools, stability balls, and more.  Research has shown that flexible seating: - helps student attention spans, leading to increased achievement. - promotes active learning. - helps students with ADHD, Autism, and other special needs. - develops a sense of community  and builds student social skills. - encourages students to take responsibility for their learning. - motivates students to want to come to school. - is loved by students and teachers! Students will be able to choose their own seat daily, and work in a location that suits them. Some student supplies traditionally stored in desks will be kept in book boxes on our shelves for easy access. Students can grab their work and take it to the spot they have chosen. I am very excited about using flexible seating in our classroom this year. I know it might seem a little different from what you’re used to in a traditional classroom, but I believe it will help each student in our class be the best learner they can be. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me @ akellow@sfps.k12.nm.us.
