  • Growing to New Heights

    Funded May 7, 2024

What an excited time having a garden in our classroom has been! The students are fascinated by the mechanics of the machines that pump the water and work the cameras and lights!

The students loved getting to plant all edible plants that we hope to harvest and cook with in a month or so. This has allowed us to talk about he science of plants. We've discussed how they grow, how they are useful and their lifecycles. It has also led to wonderful discussions about healthy eating and how we can make sure we are getting enough vegetables in our diets.

For most of my students, this is their first experience with any garden and it has been a thrilling and amazing experience for them! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • We're All Ears!

    Funded Oct 22, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom!

The head phones have allowed my students to focus on their work and avoid the distractions of background noise (of which there is plenty in a first grade classroom). It has allowed me to assign fun assignments with recorded voices to help my students be exposed to and understand English as they continue on their English Language Learning journey.

The head phones will continue to be a gift to the classroom for years to come, as they provide students the ability to assert their independence and self-reliance!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • Rise, Shine, Play and Learn

    Funded May 7, 2022

Your donations have already made a world of difference in my classroom.

Students have been able to start their day building fine motor skills, learning to share and regulate emotions while using the manipulatives that you made possible for us.

I have also been able to use the donations to integrate into lessons. We have used wiki-sticks and magnetic balls and rods to spell out words. We have used Lincoln Logs, wiki sticks and more to study shapes, patterns and so much more.

I even have a group of students who arrive extra early every day so that they can play with the manipulatives for more time. Your gift has helped foster a love of school!”

  • Sit Up and Take Notice

    Funded Feb 6, 2022

The "surf desks" are the coolest thing I have ever had in my classroom! Now every inch of the classroom can become a highly effective learning space!

Not only were the students in the classroom thrilled to see and try the amazing new addition to the classroom, every teacher who passes by and sees the desks in use wants to try them and then get them for their own classroom!

The students use the desks to do computer work in a more comfortable environment or to move closer to the board when necessary and write on a stable service.

One of the coolest things about these desks is that sitting on them allows even the most fidgety student to engage their core and get their necessary physical needs met while being able to concentrate!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • Sitting Pretty

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

What a fantastic addition to our classroom the new rug has been! It has allowed me to spread students out more to do group work in a different location. It has also enabled me to allow students to lay down on the floor to complete work if that is the best position for them! It has been a complete game changer.

One of the best parts of the rug are the awesome spots. It helps my students fully grasp the idea of personal space and gives them a zone in which they understand that they need to regulate their bodies. It has made whole class meetings 1000x better.

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • Learning in All the Colors of the Rainbow!

    Funded May 3, 2021

You have truly illuminated the life in my classroom. With a color printer, I am able to create fun and engaging learning activities that captivate my students.

Pictures are more clear and everything feels more fun to my wonderful first graders. I have been able to successfully create vivid addition and subtraction lessons that hold my students' attention. I have also been able print out stories and projects to display in the classroom that my students are instantly drawn to.

Your generosity has made a world of difference in my classroom!”

  • Just Right for Me!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation.

Because of this project, my students now have a large leveled library that they have full access to. This means that they can pick from many more titles when it is time to read. Choosing their own materials really increases engagement with my little learners, and you have given them a great variety to choose from! How much more fun is it to read about something you love than a boring book your teacher forced you to read?! Now they can read about robots, ocean animals, princesses, super heroes and more.

I can not thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • Eye Spy: Help Us See Our Lessons

    Funded Sep 22, 2020

Thank you so much for contributing to my Donors Choose campaign!

With the new camera, my students are able to see the whole classroom or a book up close. I am able to use the camera to demonstrate how to solve math problems and to move around to show them the nature outside my window during science class.

Your gift has opened up my virtual classroom and now it feels more like I am right there with my students than ever before! One tool has allowed me to share more with the class and for my students to be more involved and engaged.”

  • Remote Learning Can Be Engaging Too!

    Funded Feb 22, 2021

Your gift has changed so much in my virtual classroom already!

Having access to so many great resources available to us on Teachers Pay Teachers, I am now able to present lessons that are exciting and engaging. I am also able to assign work that students feel like are games. The best kind of learning happens when students feel that they are playing and having fun, and not just tediously going through the motions. You have made that possible for my sweet first graders!

This gift has especially helped me to be able to purchase digital reading material for my students who do not have books at home. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azurmendi

  • Science and Social Studies Come Alive

    Funded Dec 9, 2020

Scholastic News has changed the engagement in my virtual classroom!!! Thank you so much for donating and infusing new life into my class.

We have used the digital magazines in Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts! The articles are engaging and they all include interactive activities. My students love the games that come along with the work. They don't even realize that they are learning and not just playing a computer game!

My class especially loved an issue about the illustrator of the book "Last Stop on Market Street." Learning about the illustrator reinvigorated their interest in that book and many others.”

My students are curious about the world around them. What better way to stoke the creativity, scientific inquiry and imagination of my little learners than by giving them a light cube and all the materials to explore on their own?! Geometric shapes and prisms, colors, light, x-rays will be some of the tools that they will use to learn from this awesome new piece of equipment. I am sure that my creative little learners will find so much more to do with the light cube than I can even imagine. The endless limits of this tool will thrill them and get them excited about the possibilities of their education. Students will use these materials in the Discovery for both guides and independent exploration. We will use this light table and materials when we discuss geometric solids. Students will also have a chance to use color paddles and the light table to gain a hands on understanding of color mixing. Working with light will allow us to explore some of the Reggio Emilia style lessons for PreKindergarten classrooms.
