Let's Get on Target
Funded Feb 20, 2020This project was originally intended for my 4th and 5th grade class, which many of the items have supported reading intervention for them. Reading Intervention gives students with an opportunity to increase literacy and test taking skills at their level. It's intended to fill the gaps where students need growth.
i was able to use the materials for about 3 months before moving completely virtual due to the pandemic. it was awesome to have so many different resources at the tip of my teacher fingers. Now with moving grade levels, I have taken the grade level materials intended for my 1st and 2nd graders. With the materials intended for older grades, I have shared those resources with many teachers. Now, this project has support over 4 classrooms. Thank you so much/”

The Watsons Go to Birmingham--1963
Funded May 17, 2020I am super excited that my classroom received these books to bring in as classroom book study, however materials have not been used to due COVID-19. We have been virtual since March of 2020. Currently, we are virtual to start to the school year as well.
I am very sorry to the donors that supported this project, but I promise this books will be used in the future. I have currently moved grade levels for the 2020-2021, however this books have found a home in our school's book set library for other teachers to use as well. You have truly made a difference.
This book is historical fiction, but connects to things that are still happening today. This book study will help build connections to the past and now. Hopefully, providing social change.”

Actually, I had the whole unit in place to be taught. I designed an amazing bulletin board with the featured characters of the text and a giant island to showcase the setting. Packets were printed and books were ready. 3 hours later schools were shut down. I am very sorry to the donors that supported this project, but I promise this books will be used in the future.

Funded Oct 21, 2019You wouldn't believe how many pencils that we go through in a school year. Many of our students come to school with no pencils, but I don't make it an issue our classroom. Students are always equipped with a pencil and a tool to keep it sharp. Through this project, we are able to be stocked with pencils for the rest of the school year. The sharpeners keep them sharp and are very durable.
I think we often take for granted the simple the tools needed in a classroom. It's greatly appreciated that a simple supply will always be there.”

Bring Engaging Non-Fiction into the Classroom Library
Funded Aug 24, 2019These non-fiction books have been constantly checked out by students all year. I see a lot of non-readers checking out more books. Also, it's so great that they also can learn about the world around them.
I use these books as a choice option for independent reading in the classroom and home. We will continue to build projects around using them in the classroom as well.
Finally, I think the biggest impact that this project has made is that it has provided curiosity to my students. They are so eager to learn more about life, history, and people.”

Funded Sep 18, 2018You generosity has made a huge impact on every student in my classroom. Students love the new books. Our classroom library bins are almost empty, because books are being constantly checked out. Also, I have seen other staff members telling my students to be careful leaving school as they often leave the classroom with a book in their face. Just simply awesome. The biography books will be used for a future project heading in spring. The students will construct biography report and art projects using the books. The headphones have ensured every child has access to sound on their computers. Overall, the project was a huge success!”

Mr. Steger
