• Band Essentials

  Thank you so much for your generous donations to my music classroom. Thanks to you our band program has taken off wonderfully this year! The students have gotten their instruments and a lot of the accessories and things needed to play their instruments.

  The students are always so excited to receive their instruments. They automatically show a sense of responsibility for the care of their instrument. They also were excited to have the things in their cases that they weren't able to have last year. Being able to care for your instrument is an important part in learning to play. It's not just about playing the notes you need to be able to take care of your instrument!

• Breathe (or Draw) Through It!

  The students in my GSA are going to be floored when they see all the amazing things that we have received for our club. Allowing them to have this outlet in their school week is such a huge mental relief for them. Giving them the opportunity to breathe and talk to students and teachers who are on "their side" can really help shape their lives. So many students struggle with their mental health and the stresses of schools, I am happy to be there for them.

• Snacks for Growing Minds!

  I can't begin to explain the amount of gratitude I have for this project to be funded. I start at this school last year and immediately knew I had to do something. The kids were telling me they were hungry and would eat every spot of food they were given here thought the day. I couldn't bare to imagine them going home and being hungry.

  Last year we sponsored 20 families and sent them home with bags of food for the weekend. They were always so thankful and the kids always knew where to go when they were afraid or hungry!

• Music Composition!

  We can not thank you enough for this generous donation. Our students have been composing music and being able to use this laptop in class, as well as using it to connect to our projector has been literally life changing!

  Technology is such a big part of teaching in schools. It is a necessity these days! Not having this capability was such an impairment to the music classroom. We started our unit on Gustav Holst, studying his composition on The Planets. The students designed their own planet and will now be composing music to describe what their planet will sound like.

• Lights, Camera, Tambourines!

  Our students are so excited to work with the egg shakers in music class! They really look forward to coming to music class so they can use them. We are learning presto and largo with them!

  I am planning to use our LED tambourines in the spring concert! We will also be using them in our small spring musical with our 2nd grade students. They will add such an amazing aspect to our concert and musical.

• Keyboards for Wolfpit Music!

  The students are ECSTATIC to have keyboards for them to use in the music room. Each grade level is able to have a chance to have a little "jam" session before we tackle the basics of learning to play keyboard.

  Since we also have a drum set, and tons of ukulele we are going to be starting classroom bands. As soon as we get back to school from Spring break we will tackle this new venture. We will also be practicing for our Spring Concert and perhaps some students can play a little keyboard accompaniment to some of our concert selections.

• Music Stands!

  The students helped bring the boxes into my classroom and assemble the music stands and they literally were so excited. It has made a huge different and feel to my music room. They love being able to get their music stand, sheet music and instruments ready for class when they walk in.

  When the younger classes come in and see the music stands they ask oh my goodness what is that? So, I explain that once they start reading music and playing instruments they will be able to use them too.

• The Year of the Ukes!

  Thank you so much for the ukulele!!!! The 4th grade students at Wolfpit are really enjoying their time in music class being able to use them! They are learning 4 chords and playing so many songs!

  When I told the students they would all be getting their own ukulele they were ecstatic. Some of these kids can't afford to play an instrument and they really treat the ukulele with such care because it's something that is theirs!

  Next we will be earning ukulele tuners and picks to enhance their time in music. This is such a special time for them and I couldn't say thank you enough!”

• Rhythm Sticks

  Thank you so so much for your generous contribution to my music classrooms. Our students are loving the fact that they have their own rhythm sticks to use. Our rhythm reading has gotten so great since we are able to do so much with the rhythm sticks this year!

  We are doing a talent show and some students are even using rhythm sticks as their talent. I love the fact that they are so enthusiastic about them.

  Music is such a wonderful time of day for these students and to see their excitement when they all got their own "instrument" to take home with them.
