The different types of tools needed for my classroom will help build their content knowledge of the English language, as well as their knowledge of being an active part of their community. The phonics games requested in our project will give my students the opportunity to learn and explore the rules of language in a fun, interactive and engaging way. On top of learning the way English works, they will also be learning how a community functions. They will learn how to take turns, how to be happy for someone even when we don't win, how to be active in their own learning, and above all, they'll understand that learning is fun!
Another part of our project is the amazing shoe socks! As an aspect of building community, I teach my children to always push in their chairs before going to another part of the room. In kindergarten, we move a lot, so although I love that my kiddies are remembering to push in their chairs, the noise can get to be a little...LOUD. These shoe socks will give our eardrums a rest, and allow the children to keep their focus if the person near them needs to leave their seat!
The last request I've made is a good ol' sharpener! Kindergarteners, believe it or not, love to write, and with all this writing comes lots and lots of dull pencils. Our class sharpener has gone kaput, and we are in desperate need of a new, heavy duty one! There's only so much time my pencil monitor can spend at the garbage with a tiny little sharpener. So this may seem like a silly request, but I can promise it will make all of our lives much easier!
Thanks in advance!!
