My classroom is built around colored ink and velcro. Students benefit so much from the use of adaptive books and other hands on materials. These books can be used in a variety of different ways and subjects. Some can be used for basic matching tasks while others can be used for reading and reading comprehension. Colored ink can also be used to create materials that evolve around core vocabulary. Some of my students are non verbal and are learning to communicate through pictures. Laminating sheets are also very handy in making materials and pictures for students. Laminate sheets allow items to be cleaned when needed and are also save time because you don't need to cut out each individual sheet. These are just a few examples of how colored ink, laminating sheets, and velcro can benefit a special education classroom.
