My students have so much energy that they have a difficult time sitting still or safely in their desk. The wobble chair/cushions, and bouncy bands, etc. will give my students the opportunity to move while they work and choose the place in the room where they feel they learn best. This gives them ownership over their learning. My students currently sit at a small round table of four with a chair, giving them not many options to move. Students are constantly flopping their bodies over the chair, sitting on the back of the chair, or kicking the bottom of their desk. Having flexible seating options will allow students to move safely while working quietly and not disturbing others around them. While I try to make my classroom as accommodating as possible, using lapboards, scoop chairs, and pillows, there are still additions that could revolutionize the day for my students. Not every student works their best sitting in a typical classroom chair and desk. Some of my sweet ones struggle with focusing their extra energy into their work. It generally manifests as an abundance of wiggling and stomping, which can be a distraction for them and others around them!
