Bookshelf for 6th Grade
Funded Aug 31, 2023I would like to start off by saying how much I appreciate every single donor who donated towards our classroom bookshelf. In our classroom, we are using this bookshelf as a classroom library. The students are very excited to have access to our own classroom books and happy that our bookshelf made them easier to access!
The students were very excited to see the bookshelf filled with our brand new classroom books! The books were easily organized and helped the students find different genres of books. The next steps for our bookshelf project is to organize our library by AR system. This will make our bookshelf even more useful because we could organize the books by AR points. Thank you again and appreciate you all!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cabrera

Funded Feb 9, 2022I would like to start off by saying thank you to all the donors who made it possible to add these books to our classroom library! These books have added a variety of genres and diversity to our sixth grade classroom library. My students are excited to choose a new book in our library and learn about social issues or read books about characters whose personality relates to theirs. These books have introduced several skills: comprehension, vocabulary, and social skills, such as empathy. I started to plan lessons using these chapter books for a small group setting where we could read, discuss, and write about the reading. These books range in reading levels, so I will be able to utilize the books to meet the needs of all readers in my classroom.
Reading in our classroom ranges from independent reading, small group, or a whole group setting. Students could utilize these books to reach the Accelerated Reader goals for the trimester or during Silent Sustained Reading time. Also, in my classroom, I like to read aloud different stories that will engage students and reinforce their listening and comprehension skills. Therefore, I am planning on reading a book to my class each semester and these donated books have given me the opportunity to have different choices.
The majority of my students are enjoying these books! They were really excited to receive these books because they have more choices for reading time. They love to read books about social issues and young characters who make a difference in the world, such as Malala. Again, I would like to say thank you to all the donors who made this project possible!”
