Giving Kids the Tools to Do the Job!
Funded Jan 7, 2022I teach 3 classes of 32 students. I have 36 students who are learning English as a new language and many whom are new immigrants. Some of my students arrived in the US with only the clothes on their backs. Your donation of school supplies has been invaluable. The supplies create an even playing field for everyone. Your donation is so important to doing work in school. Without it, the children would be unprepared and unable to participate effectively.
Pencils and paper are still a basic need in the elementary school classroom. Your kindness and generosity made a significant difference for every one of my students. Thank you for making them feel loved, valued, and worthy of a solid education.”

Ms. K.
Soap and Sound!
Funded Jan 1, 2022Your donation to my class went across the grades and across the school. I have just a few bottles of soap left. The bottles of soap show up everywhere... the teacher's lounge, the kids bathrooms, and in classrooms. This has been a great help, a money saving addition, and an important part of maintaining a healthy safe environment for students.
Thank you for your kind generosity. It has been such a wonderful addition to the entire school community. I can't thank you enough for providing for all of us (I have 92 students this year.).
You are an important part of the community and of the work that we do at PS 120.
Thank you!”

Funded Nov 5, 2019Having dry erase markers in our classroom is like giving every student a chalkboard and a box of chalk. They use the markers to work problems, play games, change their thinking, challenge each other, practice, explore, calculate, investigate, and draw. We use them all day long and in every subject.
The kids were so excited that they tried to claim entire sets for themselves. The fact that there were different colors and that the markers actually worked was incentive enough to keep the kids engaged and on task. A teacher's dream come true!
The pictures that I have included show just one activity that we used the markers for. Each student works with a partner to create arrays to cover the board. The kids got to choose their colors and partners. The beauty of the markers is that mistakes "go away" as quickly as they are made. They were able to draw and re-draw. They were able to determine who was winning by just counting the boxes in their color. In addition, once a game is complete, it takes just a swipe of a cloth to begin again.
I can't thank you enough for this simple gift that has made learning so much more approachable and exciting for the kids!”

Making Learning Accessible to All
Funded Nov 2, 2018I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Because of you, I have students who are able to participate in class who would not otherwise be able to participate. Who knew such a small device could make such a big difference?
I know that many of my students have come to the States for the purpose of learning English, but they also have to learn Math, Science and Social Studies. It is a difficult adjustment for them. Using a translator makes learning in the content areas possible.
Your gift will have an impact for years to come. It is the type of tool that will have a lasting impact on the lives of many, many fourth graders.
Again, thank you. You have helped to make school a place for all students.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation. I work with students who have a diverse set of skills. As teachers we often plan and adjust for the lower-performing students, and assume that the students who excel will do well. I am always looking for opportunities to challenge all students. These books are fascinating. They encourage students to think outside of the box and support learning for all abilities. I have given sample questions from the book series to some of my insatiable lovers of math. The problems challenge and excite them. It's a great opportunity to support their learning and enthusiasm for mathematics.
This is the type of material that encourages life-long learning because it's more than math. It's about how to think.
Thank you again for your kindness.”

Funded Dec 25, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. My student's eyes lit up when they saw the magazines! (We received a preview set from Scholastic.) The magazine was full of fascinating stories and graphs and puzzles that kept them busy for the entire weekend. When they got back to school they were looking for the next issue.
Thank you for providing my students with something exciting to look forward to. The magazine is an opportunity to reach students who would not necessarily "tune in" in math class. It also provides the students with some very real-life examples of the importance of math to day-to-day living.
My students were astonished to think that someone would provide them with such a resource. I believe that your generosity is an encouragement to them to pay it forward. They have been inspired to give back as well and have started a letter writing campaign to encourage others.
On behalf of all of my students, thank you again.”

Funded Dec 30, 2017I don't know how to thank you for your generosity. It's almost sad that I am excited about paper, pencils, ink and protractors, but I truly am. I have printed hundreds of pages of activities already. I think that I use one ream every week. Now I am able to provide copies of what ever I need, anytime I need for everyone. It has been a blessing.
The protractors are state-test worthy and now I can begin teaching students how to use them early in the year (instead of 2 weeks prior to the test). Know that this will provide students to really learn how to use the tool. Now they have enough time to practice and even play so that they are comfortable with measurement.
The graphing notebooks are amazing! Students can graph, line up numbers, make shapes, measure, divide, find area and perimeter, and so many other things with this particular kind of notebook. They are perfect for math1
And... well, colored pencils are very well-suited to mathematics. My students can color code, detail, enhance, celebrate and even decorate with precision. They love the pencils and are learning to use them with great care. Everything looks better with a little color and, in fourth grade, the students still love to brighten up their work by coloring. Thank you for providing the materials necessary to get through the year without worrying about whether I would have the basics for my students.
Thank you for making this a wonderful year!”
With gratitude,
Ms. K.
